Job Description

With offices in London Toronto Strathroy and Kitchener Lerners LLP provides a full range of legal services throughout Ontario. Lerners is seeking aLaw Clerk to support the Dispute Resolution and Advocacy practice group in the London Ontario office. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience working in a similar position. This is a hybrid position and requires a minimum of 3 days in office or as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining an effective bring forward (BF) system in ACL;
  • Drafting correspondence;
  • Receiving organizing and reviewing client documents;
  • Working with the eDiscovery team to ensure documents are scanned/loaded and coded in Relativity;
  • Scheduling Examinations for Discovery and preparing and serving Notices of Examination;
  • Summarizing transcripts and working with client to prepare responses to undertakings;
  • Compiling/preparing/serving/filing pleadings motion records application records briefs trial records bookmarked pdfs etc.;
  • All aspects of trial preparation;
  • Drafting Costs Outlines/Bills of Costs;
  • Scheduling witnesses conducting witness interviews and preparation of witness statements and briefs;
  • Review of/coding and working with documents within Relativity database to produce Affidavit of Documents etc.;
  • Drafting motions and affidavits.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 (three) years of experience as a Law Clerk in litigation.
  • A strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • A strong work ethic.
  • The ability to work effectively on a team and individually.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with technology and working in a remote/ hybrid environment.
  • Experience with Relativity Case Center ACL and a Document Management System (iManage) is an asset.
