Job Description

Class Summary

The SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) engineers are responsible for designing implementing maintaining and optimizing control systems used to monitor and control the DWR facilities. This position is responsible for complex design and programming work in process engineering. Incumbents may also supervise personnel and activities such as: design development testing & commissioning and provide day to day support to SCADA / Process Automation Systems across DWR Facilities. This position is directly responsible for all SCADA engineering projects system upgrades and training related to SCADA systems within DWR facilities.

Other essential Duties:

  • Design configure and maintain SCADA systems for process control and automation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with SCADA systems.
  • Interface SCADA with other systems like PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) RTUs (Remote Terminal Units) and HMI (HumanMachine Interface).
  • Ensure systems are optimized for reliability security and efficiency.
  • Implement cybersecurity protocols for SCADA infrastructure. Support integration of devices for realtime data acquisition and control.
  • Perform regular testing diagnostics and maintenance.
  • Documentation of systems and processes.
  • Provide training and support to field engineers and operators.
  • Oversea Junior engineers if delegated
  • Oversea Projects and Vendors P&ID development review and Drawings updates.
  • System wide EOL management for SCADA Assets.
  • This is a 24/7/365 position required to be available in case of emergency.
Required experience:
  • SCADA Engineering experience in Design Develop Testing Commissioning and Troubleshooting
  • Experienced with SCADA Platform to design and build symbols and graphics for Process Automation
  • Knowledge of PLC programing ladder Logic Function Blocks and Structured Text etc.
  • Creation of control system wiring schematic and logic diagrams using Visio or AutoCAD
  • Experience with industrial instrumentation loops and control system fabrication
  • Four years of experience in the Process Automation Industry
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • Six years of progressively responsible engineering experience some of which should be in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience with SQL language and Scripting
  • Experience with System Network Network administration TCP/IP Modbus Device net etc.
  • Experience in Wonderware SCADA 2014 and above. Wonderware Certification
  • Experience in Allen Bradley PLC Hardware and software
