An exciting opportunity has become available within the Medical Device industry for a Design Engineer. The position is based in Observatory Cape Town.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum BEng or BSc.Eng in Mechanical Biomedical or Mechatronic Engineering. Masters in Biomedical is beneficial.
- At least 2 years of design experience preferably within the medical device field.
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques is beneficial.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks.
- Can work independently and within a team.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proof of determination and grit.
- Examples of previous engineering achievements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This candidate will join a design engineering team of 4.
- Research concept development product design and development.
- Detailed CAD design and drawing packs.
- Manufacturing/ testing of device concepts and prototypes.
- Liaisewith suppliers and 3rd parties for manufacturing of components (custom mechanical parts tooling stock parts etc.
- Set up test protocols and orderly documenting of all developments/experiments run.
- Verification testing.
- Failure analysis (root cause).
- Process verification/validation testing.
- Process ownership and technician training.
- QC process development and improvement.
- Test protocol writing.
- Test report writing.
- Compliance with medical device regulatory requirements and knowledge of ISO 13485 is beneficial.
