Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Tutor/Mentor for TRIO Upward Bound. The Tutor/Mentor will work closely with TRIO Upward Bound students to ensure successful matriculation through high school and entry and completion of postsecondary educational programs.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic tutoring to students.
  • Data collection entry and analysis of student progress and outcomes.
  • Prepare and submit tutoring/student contact reports.
  • Serve as mentor to students in grades nine through twelve.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director and Student Development Coordinator on various aspects of the mentoring component.
  • Support the of parental workshops designed to support student success.
  • Assist with the of studentrelated activities and events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 60 college credit hours completed required.
  • One year experience working with minors preferably high schoolaged children.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing tasks.
  • TheTRIO Upward Bound faculty and staffwork with children.All employees must be able topass a Nevada State and Clark County School District background check.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employmentrelated visas).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Overcome similar barriers to the target population.
  • English/Spanish bilingual.

Work Hours:

This position will work 15 19.5 hours per week.

Hourly Rate:

$15.00 $20.00 per hour.
