A VRT Functional Analyst Engineer is responsible for identifying analyzing and resolving defects or inefficiencies in the manufacturing assembly process. This role involves conducting root cause analysis (RCA) using methodologies like 5 Whys Fishbone Diagrams and Six Sigma to determine the underlying issues affecting product quality. The engineer collaborates with crossfunctional teams including production design and quality assurance to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Responsibilities also include monitoring process performance optimizing workflows and ensuring compliance with industry standards to enhance overall product reliability and efficiency.



Responsibilities

What youll do...

  • Attend and chair the team meetings lead the team through the Variability Reduction process. Conduct meetings on a weekly basis to review concerns.
  • Ensure that the team opens a BSAQ concern when the conditions meet the criteria.
  • Ensure issues or concerns that are found internal to the plant as well as any external issues or concerns found in concernbased systems other than ECB i.e. QNPS QLS (optional) etc. be entered into BSAQ so they can be tracked on the Top Concern Containment and Validation Mapping (Form4.
  • If the following circumstances occur: all claims are classified as Dealer Goodwill or Customer damage Design related items which will not be changes due to senior management decision.
  • Responsible for a current and completely filled out Top Concern Containment and Validation Mapping (Form4.
  • Present and speak to Subsystem data during daily & monthly VQR reviews.
  • Ensure that the team meets the requirements of the applicable Time & Data Mgmt. Procedures for weekly working meetings and biweekly and monthly report outs.
  • Ensure that all required current data and charts are posted in the Digital PIC room.
  • Drive the team to timely Interim Containment Actions (ICA) and Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA) and highlight issues through the VQR process.
  • Keep the Champion informed of any required skill level deficiencies in the makeup of the team; escalate roadblocks impeding the teams progress and keep them informed of teams current status to objectives.
  • Ensure the ECB claims are being binned correctly if warranty claims are binned incorrectly it is the VRT CoLeads responsibility to make sure that they are rebinned to the appropriate VRT/VFG/CCC functional area (Design Process Supplier Design Supplier Process or Powertrain Process)
    • Rebinning the claims to the organization responsible for the resolution is done to ensure claims are owned by the subsystem best positioned to solve the root cause.
    • Link to FN/VFG Job Aid (located on the binning pages)
  • Update the Quality Confirmation Map (QCM) on an ongoing basis according to VOPQUG228 procedure and ensure that all containment points for open issues are identified.
  • Any temporary inspection that was added for containment should be moved to Obsolete Checks on the Quality Confirmation Map when the criteria for this have been met according to VOPQUG228 Quality Confirmation mapping procedure.
  • Provide status of Open issues on FAF020534 (Form4 and identify where help is required. Record actions taken to contain and permanently correct concern. Actions taken to cut off the concern from going to the customer are documented under the ICA. Actions taken to eliminate the cause of the concern are documented in the PCA.


Qualifications

Youll have...

  • Education: bachelors degree in engineering
  • Experience: Experience in manufacturing engineering
    • Demonstrated experience in accomplishing tasks and objectives
    • Proven problemsolving ability.
  • Previous production supervision
  • Microsoft Office knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership in One FORD (leadership) behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal teambuilding and communication skills

  • Production or Manufacturing Experience
  • Subsystem Experience
  • Working knowledge of Quality Operating System (QOS)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified

This position is a range of salary grades 7 & 8.
