Job Description

Brown University Health has an exciting opportunity for a boardcertified physiatrist to serve as medical director at our 28bed inpatient rehabilitation facility in Newport Rhode Island. Our growing academically oriented systemsbased PM&R departmentis a fourtime Guardian of Excellence Award Winner.

About the job:
  • Serve as the medical supervisor of inpatient rehabilitation services
  • Time is split roughly 25 administrative 75 clinical
  • Provide direct patient care
  • Partner with the Chief of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Senior Vice President of Brown University Health and inpatient PM&R consult physicians to set goals and priorities for program development
  • Work primarily with Stroke amputee TBI Spinal Cord Multiple Trauma Orthopedic patients
  • The team consists of nine others including MD/DOs physical occupational and speech & language therapists
  • Average length of stay in the unit is 14 days
  • Call is 1:7 week
  • Brown Academic appointment in the Department of Neurology

About you:
  • Board certified or eligible in physiatry
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • 23 years experience preferred but not required

The Department of PM&R includes multiple outpatient clinics with a focus on neurorehabilitation including concussion/TBI spinal cord injury and spasticity management. We also manage general rehabilitation patients with musculoskeletal needs prosthetics and orthotics wheelchair management and oncological rehabilitation
