The University of Miami Health System at Doral has an exciting opportunity for a Per Diem Pharmacist 3 with a hire date of May 2024.
The University of Miami Health System will soon open the second phase to our stateoftheart facility in Downtown Doral that serves as a western hub for our distinguished regional network of ambulatory services. This 160000 square foot expansion will continue to bring worldclass academic medicine cuttingedge technology and innovative treatment options to the rapidly growing Doral community. UHealth at Doral will have services through the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute as well as specialties such as cardiology endocrinology otolaryngology gastroenterology dermatology and more. The expansion will provide residents with innovative specialized medical services in the heart of their community. Once complete UHealth at Doral will have 8 operating rooms 3 endoscopy procedure rooms 33 cancer treatment bays over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms and supporting ancillary services like imaging lab and respiratory therapy. UHealth at Doral will open in September 2024.
SUMMARY
The Pharmacist compounds and dispenses prescribed in a healthcare facility environment. Also an employee in this position transfers prescriptions handles incoming physician calls logs data into applicable databases and performs drug utilization review.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
- Implements and maintains procedures for mixing packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policies and legal requirements to ensure quality security and proper disposal.
- Compounds and dispenses medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists by calculating weighing measuring and mixing ingredients.
- Calculates the volume of medication required to produce the desired results to ensure proper dosages.
- Assesses the identity strength and purity of medications.
- Reviews prescriptions to ensure accuracy ascertain the needed ingredients and evaluate suitability.
- Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions side effects dosage and storage.
- Analyzes prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent inappropriate usage or harmful interactions.
- Maintains records such as pharmacy and system files patient profiles inventories control records for radioactive nuclei and registries for poisons narcotics and controlled .
- Advises customers on the selection of medication brands medical equipment and healthcare supplies.
Adheres to University and unitlevel policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
