Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

  • Certified chaplain.
  • Provides personcentered spiritual care and emotional support to patients families and colleagues.
  • Provides objective patient/family/colleaguecentered crisis intervention and spiritual support (as needed) throughout the institution.
  • Shares the responsibility of promoting team spirit and a positive environment resulting in outstanding patient and family service on a daily and emergency basis.
  • Assists with new hires and CPE students orientations.
  • Completes supervisorassigned projects and/or tasks.

Reports To:

Director/Pastoral Care/CPE (job code 018801 a.k.a. Director Spiritual Care and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)

Supervises:

None

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Masters degree in divinity (seventytwo 72 semester hours minimum) from a Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) accredited educational institution.
  • Four 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).

Required Experience:

  • One 1 year of spiritual care experience in a health care setting

Required Certification/License/Registry:

  • Ecclesiastical endorsement from the incumbents/candidates faith group.
  • Chaplain certification from one 1 of the following bodies: Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC) Association of Certified Christian Chaplains (ACCC) Canadian Association of Spiritual Care (CASC) or National Association of Veterans Administration Chaplains (NAVAC).
  • No federal or state license required.
