Radar Signal Processing Engineer Intern

The Sensor Innovation Portfolio within the Defense Sector is seeking a talented Radar Signal Processing Engineer Intern to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex sensor and radar orientated problems. We have offices across the United States engaging in the defense space cyber and commercial fields Leidos provides responsive costeffective engineering scientific and IT solutions. This position within Leidos Sensor Innovation Portfolio affords new or experienced engineers continued opportunities to learn and grow in technical knowledge of sensor and radar systems. The department encourages and frequently incorporates new ideas from all employees into our many sensor projects which span the entire DoD ecosystem. Primary Responsibilities

The role will support Advanced Technology Radar and EW programs including research and development of advanced digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms; highfidelity radar and RF modeling simulation and analysis; integration and field testing of RF sensors and systems; and CONUS/OCONUS deployment of advanced sensor systems. The Engineer in this role is expected to quickly immerse into radar and sensor phenomenology and our existing tools and models to begin contributing to new features.

A variety of tasks related to signal processing measurement tracker processing system performance metrics sensor simulation or utility tools as part of larger efforts or customer goals will be assigned. In this role your organizational skills will be paramount and managing multiple tasks while ensuring the work remains compatible with the groups larger codebases.

Basic Qualifications

BS degree in progress from an ABET accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related technical field with status as a rising Junior or pursuing a postgraduate degree.

The candidate must have experience in the following areas:

• Good organizational skills attention to detail and a strong technical background.
• Must have excellent math skills and/or possess and show good fundamentals in one or more of the following:
  • Signals and systems
  • Digital signal processing
  • Tracking algorithms
  • Electromagnetics
• Should be able to apply one or more of these skills to the areas of radar modeling & simulation antenna array theory digital signal processing tracking algorithm development and field testing of sensor systems.
• Demonstrated experience in understanding evaluating and implementing published scientific literature from sources such as IEEE is highly valued.
• Experience working with Matlab Python or similar scientificbased programming tools to implement math or scienced based phenomenology related to linear systems digital signal processing tracking or electromagnetics are valued.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• Further experience in high performance computing languages such as C is highly valued.
• Experience in development or operations of radar resource management radar tracking algorithms or radar HWILs is highly valued.
• Experience in the analysis of sensor systems and subsystems with a thorough understanding of technology focused DoD organizations and their missions.
