The Role:
Our site in Bedford MA is seeking a/an Membrane R&D Engineer CoOp to join our team for the Fall 2025 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.
We are looking for a student to join the Membrane R&D group to support the continuous yield and performance improvement projects for membrane development. The group looks to make highly impactful changes on largescale manufacturing processes. The student will test the feasibility of process changes create designed experiments and make process recommendations. The ideal candidate has interests in R&D development manufacturing operations and working in lab environments.
What Youll Do:
Test new ideas for improving membrane properties
Prepare designed experiments and review with stakeholders
Execute on designed experiments
Complete analysis and present findings to group
Test membrane to characterize performance
Build experimental setups
Develop statistical skills
Contribute to brainstorming sessions
Consider how bench top experiment findings can be used in manufacturingscale processes.
Make recommendations and depending on feasibility work with operations to evaluate on manufacturing processes.
Potential projects may include:
o Assess membrane properties across multiple test methods and multiple membrane types.
o Complete measurement system analysis on new testers for membrane.
o Characterize membrane properties.
o Recommend what process changes result in best membrane performance.
o Assess impact of development improvement changes on membrane properties.
o Look for improvements in new membrane test methods and assist in qualification of new test methods.

Excited to work in a manufacturing and lab environments
Independent ambitious and comfortable working with others outside of our group
Good multitasking skills and ability to manage multiple projects
Feels comfortable asking questions when unsure of the path forward
Will be required to usually in day shift 8 am 4:30 pm) but can be occasionally expected to support in other shifts/ overtime when needed.
Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:
Pursuing bachelors or masters degree in chemical engineering or related degree
Graduating in December 2025 or June 2026
Eligibility:
Must be a currently enrolled student
Available to work 40 hours a week MF 8a5p) beginning in July through December
Must be familiar with the universitys requirements to participate in a coop program

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Job will require extended periods of standing. Candidate should expect some level lifting handling or bending while on the lab/production floor.

Compensation: $20$30/hour range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role
