Competencies:
1 Comply with patient privacy and safety guidelines (e.g. patient identifiers).
2 Practice infection control standards.
3 Understand reasons for individual patient exams reviews patient history and if possible review prior report/images.
4 Perform complete echocardiographic examination independently (and if new to MGH within six months of employment).
5 Acquire echocardiographic examination in digital format.
6 Perform saline bubble studies.
7 Become proficient in use of LVO agents: Definity and Optison etc.
8 Become proficient in 3D imaging.
9 Eligible to perform dobutamine or bicycle stress echocardiograms.
10 Learn to use a variety of ultrasound equipment GE Philips etc.
11 Perform echoes in all settings: Outpatient Inpatient and portable bedside
(e.g. ICUs Cath Lab ER Burn Unit EP Lab and other portable sites).
12 Prepare a preliminary report with accurate measures and appropriate statements.
13 Prepare billing form accurately and submit daily.
14 Perform expected volume of studies on a consistent basis 6 studies/day.
15 Learn scheduling rotation matrix and participate in level appropriate rotations.
16 Learn/understand the components of the various rotations w/I the lab (e.g.
Ports 1st call Blake Exam Room 1 etc.
17 Understand overall functioning of Laboratory (Inpatient and Outpatient).
18 Assist with training junior personnel.
19 Participate in research protocols as needed.
20 Attend Wednesday conference if during a scheduled workday.
21 Develop good time management and organizational skills.
22 Ask questions as necessary regarding protocols diagnoses image
optimization and other areas of Lab function etc.
23 Miscellaneous tasks as assigned by Lab leadership.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years experience required.
Education:
Minimum Associates degree or 2 year equivalent (equal or related) required
BS or BA preferred
Certification:
RDCS or RCS current required
CPR certified
