Job Description

Overview

Evaluate and provide appropriate psychological services to assigned students. Coordinate psycheducational planning with interdisciplinary team and parents.

Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

1: Professional Duties

  1. Provide preschool and school age psychological evaluations as assigned.
  2. Maintain a counseling caseload of students in compliance with Individual Education Plan (IEP) mandates.
  3. Maintain a parent training counseling caseload in compliance with IEP mandates.
  4. Provide behavior management services to assigned classrooms.
  5. Adhere to the BCCS Behavior Support Services Procedural Guidelines.
  6. Provide individualized behavior assessment and intervention as needed for assigned caseload.
    1. Conduct Functional Behavior Assessment as recommended by the CPSE/CSE
    2. Develop appropriate level of behavior intervention plan (PBS; Behavior Guidelines; Behavior Intervention Program)
  7. Train classroom staff on implementation of BIP.
  8. Review data and modify BIP as needed.
  9. Meet weekly with supervisor and attend team meetings.
  10. Provide buildingwide trainings
  11. Maintain SCIPR certification
  12. Perform additional related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  13. Assist as needed in meeting with school district representatives for annual visits and to recommend classification and placement information for the following school year.
  14. Remain current with state and federal regulation as related to the role of a School Psychologist
  15. Perform psychological evaluations on students within preestablished time frames.

2: School Environment

  1. Responsible for health and safety of all students during the school day.
  2. Establish appropriate and effective communication with parents of students.

3: Professional Behaviors

  1. Cooperate and conduct self in manner appropriate to school education setting.
  2. Adhere to program specific policies and procedures.
  3. Participate in programwide activities and act in an appropriate manner.
  4. Participate in activities and seek support to enhance knowledge in areas pertinent to students in the school.

4: Professional Development

  1. Attend and participate in required inservices and staff development in an appropriate

manner.

  1. Attend and participate in supervisory sessions as requested.
  2. Be proficient in reviewing standardized testing for the purpose of assessing student ability level.
  3. Collaborate with each students clinical service providers to ensure a comprehensive program

for each student.

5: Adhere to general policies of the organization/regulators including:

  1. Code of Ethical Conduct
  2. Emergency/disaster preparedness protocols.
  3. Fire/safety prevention protocols.
  4. Inservice education program requirements.
  5. Policies and procedures (attendance punctuality appearance professional attire).
  6. Job related selfdevelopment education activities.
  7. Infection control practices and procedures
  8. Annual physical examination and Mantoux testing.

6: Performs other related duties as required.

  1. Demonstrate understanding of the needs of students and visitors for each specific age group.
  2. Address safety and psychological needs of the special age groups as appropriate in the performance of work activities.
  3. Address the needs of special groups hearing impaired physically challenged and various issues relating to the program and facility.
  4. Maintain child and family confidentiality.
  5. Is consistently courteous and considerate in person and on the telephone in interactions with children and others such as family visitors vendors and other employees.
  6. Exhibit the At Your Service attitude i.e. smiles uses positive eye contact friendly open and approachable.
  7. Respond quickly to student and/or parent/guardians request refers to appropriate member of the care team if necessary.
  8. Promote positive coworker relationships teamwork and cooperation and work collaboratively and is respectful of others.
  9. Take individual responsibility for providing outstanding service quality.

  1. Cultural Competencies:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across

cultures ranges of disability genders ethnicity and races.

  1. Demonstrate the ability to recognize and manage personal behaviors to create an

inclusive equitable and welcoming environment.

  1. Demonstrate the ability to successfully deliver culturally responsive services to students and families.

This position requires regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with people receiving services and therefore is subject to successful completion of fingerprint/criminal background check

Qualifications

  • MA or MS in Psychology required. Licensure and current registration by the New York State Department of Education and Certification as a School Psychologist required.
  • Behavior Analyst Certification and/or license or enrollment in an accredited
  • BCBA program preferred.
  • Must be proficient in administering standardized tests. Proficiency in assessment and course work in child development required.

Physical aspects may include but are not limited to lifting and transferring of a student.
