MISSION: Helping Central Texas improve economic selfreliance through a wide range of services and community partnerships.
STRATEGIC FUNCTION: Assists thecook in the preparation of food serving and clean up. They will assist in providing nourishing and attractive meals that are served to Early Head Start and Head Start children families and staff. In addition they are expected to conduct their job in a way that complies with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Head Start Standards Texas Child Care Licensing Standards Texas Food Establishment and city health departments.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES May include the following:
- Help ensure food service is running on time by assisting cook in daily activities such as pouring milks setting out clean dishes/utensils plating etc.
- Help with delivery of meals/carts to classrooms. Help pick up carts and waste from classrooms.
- Wash and sanitize dishes used daily. Clean and sanitize work areas daily.
- Responsible for preparing food for three meals a day in the event a Cook is unable to do so.
- Prepare snack if needed.
- Assist center staff in serving breakfast to children who arrive late.
- Prepare silverware and dishes at end of shift for next day.
- Go grocery shopping with cook as needed.
- Do general cleaning following the cleaning schedule.
- Perform all necessary kitchen duties of a cook in their absence if needed.
- No jewelry may be worn at any time with the exception of one solid band on finger.
- Adhere to the appropriate Dress Code Policy.
- Interact with staff volunteers and visitors in a pleasant effective and respectful manner.
- Fingernail polish will not be worn and nails must be kept short clean neat. No artificial nails.
- Gloves will be worn during times that hands are cut scratched or bandaged.
- Wear a hairnet at all times and keep supply on hand for other kitchen staff and volunteers.
- Report all suspected child abuse to the Child Abuse Hotline atand adhere to agency policy.
- Arrive on time and work designated hours.
- Participate in center meetings workshops in service training as assigned and make use of all personal and professional growth opportunities as assigned.
- Assist cook in accommodating children with special diets.
- Flexibility with work schedule and location as needed based on program needs.

REQUIREMENT/QUALIFICATIONS Preferred:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Oneyear experience in food service
Required: - Must be able to follow the daily planned menu
- Must be able to work well with others
Physical Requirements: - Be able to lift 40 pounds
- Be able to see hear and speak in order to assist and communicate with coworkers
- Be able to bend squat and reach in order to place foods in oven supplies on shelves etc.
- Be able to push a utility cart with a weight of 40 pounds
- Be able to stand or substantial amounts of time in order to assist in food service responsibilities
- Be able to handle repetitive tasks such as chopping stirring putting food items away etc.
- Be able to handle a medium mop and mop bucket
Other Requirements: - At least 18 years old.
- Initial Health Exam required for all Head Start staff at the agencys expense.
- Criminal Background Check required for all Head Start staff at the agencys expense.
- Fingerprinting required for all Head Start staff at the employees expense.
- Initial and annual TB screening are required for all Head Start staff at the agencys expense.
