Job Description:

The Director of Development is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the Pensacola State College Foundation. The Director creates meaningful relationships with internal and external donors and supporters who wish to contribute to the success of Pensacola State College. This position defines and develops target markets identifying new opportunities while maintaining strong relationships and reengaging past supporters. The director creates the framework for how to prioritize development to maximize success. The Director follows up with leads establishes relationships with potential new donors and maintains an active portfolio of prospects and donors. Through strong development skills collaborates with the development team to raise resources necessary to meet strategic goals. The Director of Development cultivates and solicits major gifts and sponsorships to support the College. Reports to the Executive Director Institutional Development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive fundraising strategy to raise resources necessary to meet strategic goals.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director Institutional Development to ensure the overall success of fundraising and engagement needed to maximize success.
  • Provides supervision of staff responsible for innovating and growing annual fundraising efforts and actively maintains communication with constituents and interested parties on the status of fundraising goals and progress.
  • Manages the of the PSC Foundations annual fundraising plan and ensures a comprehensive strategy to grow and sustain an engaged base of annual major and legacy donors.
  • Oversees the relationship management process for individuals: inclusive of the preparation of professional quality detailed and summary profiles used in prospect solicitation and briefings with primary relationship managers.
  • Remains current on special needs for the Institution to inform prospective donors of opportunities to align their interest with College needs. Encourages and solicits individuals corporations and foundations for these areas.
  • As a primary relationship manager operates strategically to successfully cultivate solicit and close major gifts and sponsorships $10000 and gifts from highnetworth individuals capable of giving six and seven figure gifts.
  • Tracks and reports relationship management activity using constituent relationship management system (Raisers Edge) including identification qualification cultivation solicitation and stewardship of prospective and current individual major donors.
  • Monitors and reports monthly quarterly and annually on activity underway to achieve major gift and sponsorship revenue goals.
  • Ensures data points are detailed and ROI is communicated to donors partners and staff members.
  • Prepares donor data analysis and fundraising reports for the Executive Director committees and Foundation/College Board(s) of Directors on a regular basis.
  • Ensures issues and needs are brought to the attention of the Executive Director of Institutional Development to ensure internal and external partners are engaged in satisfying relationships with the Foundation.
  • Develops and implements a plan to cultivate and expand current giving by planned gift donors and integrates planned gift objectives into individual donor requests in collaboration with development staff and Executive Director.
  • Participates in organizational budgeting strategic planning and board development associated with major and planned gifts.
  • Serves as a lead on the successful development and implementation of all PSC Foundation capital and comprehensive campaigns.
  • Completes other related projects and duties as determined by the Executive Director.
  • Responsible for knowing and conforming to all safety practices and regulations that apply to this specific area and position. Unsafe conditions should be reported to the immediate supervisor and to the Pensacola State College Police Department/Public Safety.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree in a related area of specialization and four years of fundraising/development experience; two years supervisory experience and two years experience in major gift fundraising. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of 435.042 Florida Statutes related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education fundraising strategic planning experience and experience with constituent relationship management software system (Raisers Edge preferred).

Annual Salary: $58000.00
