Executive Producer GZERO Media
GZERO Media isseeking an Executive Producer for our flagship program GZERO World with IanBremmer which airs on public television and across our digital platforms. Thisposition is based in our NYC headquarters in the Flatiron district and reportsto the CEO.
The ExecutiveProducer will be responsible for all aspects of production and staff related tothe GZERO World program. The idealcandidate will have experience launching a current affairs program and buildinga team from the earliest stages. You will determine the production workflow andappropriate staffing to turnaround a weekly current affairs program that isproduced on location around the world and incorporates various elements ofanalysis interviews and political satire using puppets.
We are a verycollaborative and transparent team but you will be the ultimate creative andeditorial authority for the program. You will have important daytodaydecisionmaking responsibility as well as a dominant role in shaping thefuture trajectory of the program. You have a history of strong news judgementand a keen awareness of journalistic rules and practices. You will have a clearview on how this program is distinct from other shows and content in thisspace youll understand its appeal and have a shared vision for how to evolveand improve upon the current iteration. As a program that is new and evolvingyou will closely track performance data and engage the team often in formal andinformal assessments and analysis.
You havesignificant experience managing a show budget forecasting appropriately andworking within budget parameters. You are also oriented towards developingcontent and strategies that contribute to the bottom line. We operate in boththe broadcast television and digital media and you will be focused onproducing for both platforms and audiences. You understand the commercialenvironment and how to satisfy sponsors and leverage advertising opportunitieswhile preserving editorial integrity. You will be acutely focused on not onlydelivering a highquality show but ensuring that audiences are responding tothe content.
Finally youshare our passion for global politics and actively want to find new ways ofpresenting information and connecting with audiences. This show is not aboutreinventing the same tropes of other news programs. We not only want to informand enlighten but also entertain and surprise our viewers. Ultimately youhave a strong desire to innovate leveraging talent technology and otheropportunities to create a truly unique series and brand.
Qualifications:
- 15 years ofbroadcast television and/or digital video production in the news / currentaffairs arena
- Managementexperience and strong leadership skills in television production withresponsibility for hiring and managing staff and freelancers.
- Prior budgetauthority and experience not only managing a show budget but developingcontent and strategies that contribute to the bottom line.
- Deep experiencewith the various tools and methods of storytelling in the news context and thetechnology and techniques available to craft sophisticated segments.Predisposition towards innovating creating and leveraging the latest trendsand technology available for digital video.
- History oftrusted editorial judgement and writing skills.
- Experienceproducing on deadline for a daily or weekly show with strict deadlines andshort turnarounds.
- Highlyorganized acute attention to detail and a forward planner
- Comfortablejuggling complex logistics and timelines
- A passion forgeopolitics and current events is a must
