Job Description

RESIDENTIAL POP IN JOB FAIR!

Wednesday March 4 2020 from 9:30 AM 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM 3:00 PM

WE ARE HIRING:Residential Counselors Milieu Counselors and Direct Support Professorials

All candidates must be at least 21 years of age possess a valid California Driver License and a driver record acceptable to Wayfinder Family Services insurance carrier including good driving records for the last 3 years.

RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR SHORTTERM RESIDENTIAL THERAPEUTIC PROGRAM

(AM. PM & NOC shifts

The Milieu Counselor will act as advocates for our ShortTerm Residential Treatment Programs residents and their families. Additionally this position will ensure that the comprehensive Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) case management needs of the residents are met and monitored.

Job Duties Include:

  • Check the risk assessment each day to see what youth/s are on red alert check on the youth (in person or by phone) then document I in the Program Support Service (PSS) Daily Log.
  • Conduct a daily head count for the program as needed. Create special incident reports (SIR) when: ProACT is used a youth makes suicidal statements injury to residents or staff absent without leave (AWOL) off campus out of eyesight property destruction or physical s Create Internal Incident Reports when residents have gone AWOL off campus issues verbal threats etc.
  • Complete restraint/seclusion monitoring tool forms anytime: hands are placed on a youth (escort seated standing wall or floor) or for involuntary use of the Seclusion room; anytime a youth is placed in Seclusion; restraints need to be placed on a resident.
  • Complete a missing persons report when: a resident goes AWOL off campus and is gone for 1 hour.
  • Involved in quarterly Team Decision Meetings (TDM) on each STRTP resident and in the regular review of goals established pertaining to these plans Works closely with mental health clinicians and case managers to insure that needs and service plan goals and objectives are implemented monitored and revised as needed.
  • Participates in the audit process. Corrects audit findings within designated timelines as outlined by Quality Assurance and Training Coordinator.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent referral information to assure the individuals rights are protected.
  • Develops agreed upon transition plan and assesses continuing care needs in collaboration with the residential team parent(s) and placement agency
  • Ensures that all referral contacts followup and documentation meet regulatory compliance for all government and referring agencies (e.g. Title 22 HIPAA etc..

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of local regulations state laws and procedures.
  • Knowledge of social casework principles and methods.
  • Considerable knowledge of the Regional Center and Department of Children and Family Services systems and SSI and MediCal resources.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience making effective use of community resources establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with children families staff and outside agencies.
  • Previous experience working in a residential setting preferred.

Milieu CounselorTransitional Shelter Care

Wayfinder Family Services (Wayfinder) formally known as Junior Blind is seeking Milieu Counselors to provide a safe and therapeutic environment our Transitional Shelter Care (TSC) children ages 2 days 17 years with a focus on 05 years of age who have been removed from their homes due to abuse neglect or abandonment and need immediate placement. Job emphasis is centered on providing the TSC residents therapeutic care specialized treatment recreational activities and crisis intervention.

PM & Nocturnal Shifts available.

Job Duties:

  • Ensures the health safety and welfare of our residents in the program
  • Assists in planning organizing and supervising milieu programs such as recreational and therapeutic activities which promote developmental competencies and skills targeted to childs unique and special needs.
  • Engage/coach our residents with different sports activities like Basketball Soccer Baseball Swimming etc.
  • Provides supportive guidance working closely with mental health clinicians supervisors and social workers.
  • Reports any incidents/accidents according to incident reporting procedures and protocols within designated timelines as outlined in the reporting procedures.
  • Provides transportation to residents to medical appointments community outings meetings or other locations by driving agency vehicles
  • Ensures a safe and clean living environment participating in household cleaning and maintenance activities.

    Qualifications :
  • Associates degree required in a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year residential experience preferably Emergency Shelter
  • Current ProAct Certification preferred.
  • Current and valid CA drivers license and minimum of three 3 years driving record acceptable to the agencys insurance
    carrier as position requires transportation of clients using agency vehicles.

Direct Support Professional (DSP) Children and Adult Group Homes

Wayfinder Family Services (Wayfinder) formally known as Junior Blind is seeking DSPs for our five 5 Children & Adult Homes.
In a warm loving group home setting 6 residents per home) DSPs provide 24/7 professional care to blind/visually impaired emotionally disturbed and/or multidisabled children and adults ages 555.
As a DSP you will be responsible for providing compassionate care and assistance making a positive difference in the daily life of our residents.

Payrate: $14.25


This is a nonexempt position that reports directly to the Group Home Administrator.

Available shifts: Parttime Weekends PM and Overnight

Job Duties include:
Providing direct care to residents to increase daily living skills cognitive development socialization and behavior management
Provide supervision and support for our clients in meeting their goals as per each individual program
Assist clients with daily living needs and socializations skills such as: meals preparation hygiene groom dress exercise and communication
Assist clients with prescribed medications
Develop a rapport with residents while building a caring and supportive relationship

Qualifications and Skills
High School Diploma required
A minimum six months experience working with special needs medically fragile and/or developmentally disabled population preferably in a residential settings
DSP 1 & DSP 2 certification preferred
Prior experience and compliance with Title 17 & Title 22 preferred
CPI or ProAct certification preferred
Valid CA Driver License with a minimum of three 3 years good driving history to be approved by the agencys insurance carrier to drive agency vehicles
