Volm is a leading manufacturer and distributor of worldclass food packagingand automated food packaging equipment solutions. Volm also offers inhouseproduce packaging using our wicket bagger machinery and patented produce bags.Volms patented produce bags combine polyethyleneand mesh material to create an innovative packaging solution that allows forhighend graphics and brand exposure on the poly side while offering morebreathability for keeping produce fresh longer on the mesh side.
Volm is currently looking for six 6 Night Shift Wicketer Operators to join our team. You will be working at our Canadian headquarterslocated at 173 Garden Avenue Brantford Ontario N3S 0A7.
This is a permanent fulltime positionbased on 42 hours of work per week with occasional overtime. You will be required to work 12hour shifts(3 days one week followed by 4 days the next).At this time we are only looking for applicants to fill the night shift 6:30pm until 6:30am. Position
You willbe responsible for the operation and maintenance of Volms wicketed poly bagmaking machines according to production and quality specifications. Your duties will include the following:
Perform machine setup correctly and efficiently
Operate wicketed poly bag making machines safely whilemaintaining minimum average production rates
Maintain continuous operation of the machines as perposted schedules and written instructions
Monitor machine operation to detect issues and notifysupervisor of any errors or malfunctions
Participate in lean initiatives to increase efficiencyand productivity while reducing waste including implementing the quick changetechnique and coordinating the utilization of the oldest material first
Conduct product quality control inspections and recordresults in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet
Package products to order
Prepare packages for shipment including printing andaffixing labels
Perform quality testing procedures on packaged productsincluding the drop test shake test and seal quality test and record resultsin Microsoft Excel spreadsheet
Routinely inspect machines and perform general maintenanceduties to maintain safety production and quality levels
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who meets the following minimumrequirements:
Successfulcompletion of secondary school
At least six 6)months of experience as a machine operator. Preference given to applicants withexperience working with food processing or packaging machinery.
Able to work nightshift 6:30pm until 6:30am)
Able to work 12hourshifts 3 days one week followed by 4 days the next) night shift only
Able to work with little supervision.
Basic mathskills
Basic computerknowledge including familiarity with Microsoft Excel
Basic ability to communicate in English
Able to readand follow oral and written instructions
Comfortableworking in a fastpaced environment
Able to meet the following physical requirements:
oStand for extended periods of time 90 of the shift requires standing andwalking)
oLift up to 60lbs on afrequent basis
oStrong eye/hand/foot coordination
o Perform repetitive motions including handling andgrasping products and packaging
o Push pull squat bend or reach 10 of the workday
Able to work in temperatures ranging from 60F to 90 F degrees forextended periods (temperature varies by season and department where you will beassigned)
Compensation
We offer a generous compensation packagewhich includes:
Wage: $24.25 to$25.57 per hour (based on 42 hours per week)
Overtime paidafter 44 hours per week
Performancebasedbonuses potential RRSP incentives and incremental raises in accordance withstandard company policies
10 days of paid vacationper year plus 4 days of paid personal days per year
