Preserve Protect Inspire: Lead the Way as a Regional Park Manager

TheDepartment of Parks and Recreation is looking for a Regional Park Manager II! Under the general direction of the Parks and Recreation District Manager II this position plans organizes and directs an onsite management operation and maintenance of parks and recreation resources including grounds facilities equipment and recreation and leisure time programs and services; and participates in the planning of park improvements in Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve and adjacent area.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Planning and organizing the parks and recreation operations and maintenance functions in a geographic area through subordinate personnel.
  • Directing conducting an inperson onsite visits and coordinating the management operation control and maintenance of all parks and recreation areas in the section.
  • Overseeing the coordination with various agencies and City personnel (Department of Design and Construction Managing Directors Office Department of Enterprise Services Department of Facility Maintenance Department of Environmental Services Maintenance Support Services Section Division of Urban Forestry etc. to plan and coordinate programs activities and functions.
  • Directing and coordinating through subordinate staff the operations of recreational and educational programs and services within the area.
  • Enforcing the States conservation and resource laws rules and regulations to ensure the protection conservation and utilization of fish and wildlife resources.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a noncitizen eligible under federal law for restricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionallyaccredited fouryear college or university with a bachelors degree in business administration public administration hospitality management horticulture agronomy botany landscape architecture or related field.


Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionallyaccredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program evidence of comparability or an original transcript.

Substitution: Work experience may be substituted for a bachelors degree on a yearforyear basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge skills and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelors degree.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Four 4 years of experience in managing the overall operation of a major park (e.g. district park) group of parks (e.g. recreation complex) or similar facility which demonstrated knowledge of facility usage and coordination;and/or administrative experience in managing the maintenance and beautification of a major park or similar facility which demonstrated technical competence in soil and turf management and landscaping.

Applicable Skills:

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid drivers license. The current vacancy requires a valid drivers license (Type 3/automobile) prior to appointment.
