Job Description
The Continuing Education Assistant is an essential element in the Continuing Education mission to empower individuals to be curious and become independent innovative thinkers through completing administrative tasks and offering excellent customer service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Answer all incoming phone calls and respond appropriately to all phone inquiries
- Respond to visitors by answering questions and providing directions
- File paperwork for all upcoming and completed courses and for department staff
- Post flyers for upcoming courses on campus and in the community
- Prepare class packets and materials and process paperwork following the completion of classes
- Complete physical setup of classrooms prior to classes and return classrooms to their original setups following classes
- Post class information on local newspaper calendars
- Post flyers around campus
- Pick up and drop off paperwork and items from various offices around campus
- Model appropriate behaviors that support the department culture and vision
- Observe areas for improvement and regularly communicate these observations to the Continuing Education Coordinator
- Assist in developing resources to support the mission of the CE Department
- Attend training and other meetings as required
- Demonstrate utmost respect for the privacy of student information
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment
- Assist with department projects
- Compile program information including instructor feedback forms and incident reports
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with Google Docs a plus
- General knowledge of effective oral and written communication practices
- Demonstrated ability to multitask
- Demonstrated ability to file documents chronologically and alphabetically
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse clientele
- Conversational Spanish ability is a plus
- Must be a student currently enrolled in at least 6 credits at Western Nevada College
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Google Docs
- Holds an unexpired class C drivers license and is able to pass the WNC driver safety course
