Job Description
Nichols School is looking for an experienced Middle School Math teacher to join our Middle School team for theacademic year. The Nichols Middle School serving 5th to 8th grade students seeks candidates who are enthusiastic about joining a collaborative teaching team overseeing the academic and social growth of a group of advisees and assisting in the overall school life at Nichols. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to teach various levels of math from 5th through 8th grade in our small school environment. Nichols School seeks a positive enthusiastic and proactive educator who is passionate about working with middle school students. Please submit resume and cover letter.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach three to four sections of Middle School Math 5th 8th grades)
- Advise a group of 610 students within a gradeteam/divisional framework
- Coach three seasons of Middle School athletics
- Create a classroom space that is differentiated engaging and responsive
- Integrate tools and technology as appropriate to support learning
- Identify and respond to the individual academic social and emotional needs of students including learning differences in collaboration with our Learning Specialist
- Attend scheduled division grade team and department meetings
- Participate in the traditions culture and events of the Middle School
Requirements:
- A Bachelors Degree in Mathematics or a related field
- Experience teaching in a middle school mathematics classroom
- Experience with pedagogy studentcentered learning integrated curriculum planning course design and delivery and authentic measures of student learning
- A commitment to creating an inclusive classroom community with clear and practiced expectations that allows a multitude of perspectives to be heard and respected
- A love of working with middle school students and colleagues thereby contributing to a joyful learning environment
