We are looking for a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer with proven experience in the financial technology industry to join our growing team. As the Senior AWS Cloud Engineer you will work closely with the Cloud Engineering Department. This is a fulltime permanent position working 100 onsite at our 1123 Leslie St Office.
How you will contribute:
Cloud Infrastructure Design & Management:
o Architect build and manage highly available scalable and secure cloud infrastructures using AWS services.
o Ensure the scalability reliability and performance of applications hosted on AWS focusing on financial transaction environments.
o Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform AWS CloudFormation or similar.
Security & Compliance:
o Implement robust security practices (IAM VPCs encryption etc. and comply with industry standards and regulations like PCIDSS.
o Conduct security reviews audits and vulnerability assessments and ensure cloud architecture complies with financial industry standards.
CI/CD Pipeline Implementation:
o Design and implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for streamlined code deployment and automated testing.
o Collaborate with development and QA teams to enhance the development lifecycle.
Automation & Optimization:
o Automate manual processes including scaling backups monitoring and patching.
o Continuously optimize AWS resources for costefficiency while maintaining performance and security standards.
Monitoring and Incident Management:
o Set up AWS CloudWatch and other monitoring tools to ensure the health and performance of systems.
o Implement proactive alerting and respond to incidents to minimize downtime and disruption in the payment environment.
Collaboration and Mentorship:
o Work closely with crossfunctional teams including software engineering DevOps and product management to ensure cloud solutions align with business needs.
o Mentor and provide guidance to junior cloud engineers ensuring best practices in cloud engineering and architecture are followed.
o 5 years of experience in cloud engineering with at least 3 years specifically in AWS environments.
o Must have proven experience in the financial technology industry specifically with payment systems and handling sensitive data.
Technical Skills:
o Indepth knowledge of AWS services like EC2 S3 Lambda RDS CloudFormation VPC IAM and other relevant tools and services.
o Strong understanding of AWS security practices including identity management key management encryption and compliance frameworks.
o Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
o Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
Scripting & Programming:
o Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python Bash or similar) and experience with automation tools.
o Experience with version control systems such as Git.
Networking & Database:
o Strong understanding of networking concepts like VPC subnets routing security groups and load balancing.
o Familiarity with database management both relational (RDS) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB).
Soft Skills:
o Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to handle complex cloud environments.
o Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across various teams.
Training and Education:
o Degree in computer science or a similar field.
o AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect Professional DevOps Engineer Professional etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
o Experience in financial regulatory frameworks like PCIDSS SOC 2 and GDPR.
o Experience with microservices architectures and eventdriven architectures.
o Understanding of payment gateways digital wallets and financial transaction systems.
