Job Description

Robotics Coach

Christiansburg High School

MCPS Internal Applicants Only

Montgomery County Public Schools is accepting applications for a robotics coach to coteach the Robotics evening course for the school year. The robotics course will meet twice per week from 6:00 8:00 p.m. in the robotics classroom at Christiansburg High School. Additionally the robotics instructor will help oversee the workshop during a sixweek long build season each evening from approximately the first week in January through the third week in February.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The robotics coach will assist in developing and teaching projectbased lessons that expose students to programming computeraided design circuits metal fabrication and the engineering design process. The robotics coach will supervise high school students as they design build and test a FIRST Robotics Competition robot (www.usfirst/frc). The robotics coach will also assist in planning and organizing overnight trips to regional and national competitions and assist instructors with organizing a parent booster group and fundraising.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a current Montgomery County Public Schools teacher
  • Ability to be dependable and punctual

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of modern programming language such as Java C or the LabView programming environment
  • Knowledge of drafting or 3D animation software such as Autodesk Inventor AutoCAD or 3D Studio Max
  • Operating knowledge of stationary and portable power tools (mill lathe band saw welder drill driver grinder etc.
  • Ability to solve high level math problems
  • Experience in sculpture/design
  • Experience in physics and/or chemistry
  • OSHA safety training

PAY RATE: Teacher will receive supplemental pay for teaching an additional class worth 0.17 of their base salary

FLSA: Exempt
