Job Duties:

Geisinger is seeking a fellowship trained Colorectal Surgeon to join our health delivery system. Geisinger is one of the nations largest health service organizations serving patients throughout Pennsylvania

Position Details:

  • This position will be at our Geisinger Wyoming Valley Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania
  • The Division of Colorectal Surgery will have a total of 7 surgeons across the system with 1 Advanced Practitioner
  • General Colorectal Surgery practice with a large volume of cancers and inflammatory bowel disease
  • Shared call
  • Academic environment with an ACGME accredited Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship as well as a General Surgery Residency coupled with a strong research infrastructure
  • The practice is approx 80 colorectal and 20 anorectal

Position Details:

Trained to diagnose and treat various diseases of the intestinal tract colon rectum canal and perianal area by medical and surgical means. Also deals with other organs and tissues (such as the liver and the urinary and female reproductive systems) involved with primary intestinal disease. Has the expertise to diagnose and manage anorectal conditions in the office setting. Also treats problems of the intestine and colon and performs endoscopic procedures to evaluate and treat problems such as cancer polyps and inflammatory conditions.

  • Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms medical histories and family histories.Performsand/orinterpretsdiagnostic testsas needed.
  • Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness.May prescribeor administermedications.Prepares maintains and reviews records that includepatientshistories examination findings treatment plans or outcomes.

Education:

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (Required)
