Job Description
For more than 50 years E.A. Fischione Instruments Inc. has been providing advanced microscopy and nanotechnology solutions to the worldwide scientific community. We currently sell our products in more than 50 countries on six continents. Our headquarters is in Export PA which is 25 miles east of Pittsburgh. The Lead Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing analyzing and implementing ERP procurement strategies that focus on delivering corporate goals inventory control and Lean initiatives at our stateoftheart manufacturing facility.
Duties include:
- Developing cost savings opportunities by working closely with key suppliers Manufacturing and Engineering.
- Managing key supplier accounts including qualifications selection negotiation contract development lead times performance monitoring and overall supplier reduction.
- Initiating and maintaining the master schedule and overseeing the material requirements planning process.
- Preparing issuing and following up on purchase orders and work orders.
- Initiating and maintaining the production schedule to ensure ontime delivery. Managing all aspects of production work orders in support of the production cycle including production planning capacity planning shop floor control and order picking sequence.
- Ensuring that all materials are received moved stocked picked packed shipped properly accounted for protected and stored with the highest possible level of accuracy timeliness and safety.
- Preparing and providing performance indices to management when required.
- Assuming a leadership role in production planning meetings and keeping the staff informed as to progress and issues affecting the companys goals and objectives.
- Providing recommendations to management regarding capital equipment purchases technological improvements quality process improvements safety training cost reductions efficiency improvements supplier reduction and outsourcing that will improve the companys overall performance.
- Developing implementing and managing an aggressive purchased material cost reduction effort.
Qualifications and experience
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to effect change and continuous improvement.
- Enthusiasm for staying abreast of new techniques and technologies; the ability to coach and teach employees.
- Demonstrated ability to reach aggressive timecritical business objectives.
- Detailoriented with a proven understanding of best practices in the areas of manufacturing purchasing inventory control scheduling and resource planning.
- Handson technology skills including experience with ERP information systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook
- Bachelor of science degree in business engineering or science with 3 years of progressive experience in procurement material resource planning and scheduling.
- Association for Supply Chain Management (APIC) certification is a plus
Physical requirements
- Ability to handle boxes crates small component parts and large products for the purposes of unpacking moving to storage and packing for delivery
- Ability to lift transport and move equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.
Working hours
- Monday Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Hours may fluctuate on an asneeded basis. Occasional overtime; sometimes on weekends sometimes on short notice.
