Minimum Qualifications

  • A relevant Associates Degree and four 4 years of professional experience and skill related to CNC/Machinist operation ORA relevant Certificate and five 5 years of occupational experience and skill related to CNC/Machinist operation.
  • Prior experience in training or teaching is highly desirable.
  • OSHA CNC/Machinist Certification required or must be willing to obtain certification within the first four weeks of employment.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and machinist operation safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop engaging training materials and presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite Learning Management System web browsers and online machinist training platforms).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel to various locations within Northwest Louisiana.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate training sessions at different times and locations.
  • Ability to pass a background check as required by Bossier Parish Community College.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see read talk hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
  • Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as but not limited to personal computer calculator copier and fax machine.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform handson demonstrations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in performing modern machining practices to include the use and application of CNC devices.
  • Demonstrates the ability to teach this information to students using current pedological practices.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with both small and large groups.
  • Ability to work with a diverse nontraditional and traditionally underserved population.
  • Strong organizational and problemsolving skills.
  • Working knowledge of a student information system and/or knowledge of microcomputer/software applications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and written at all levels.
  • Proven ability to present a positive image for the college maintain professional demeanor provide effective customer service and made good decisions.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations needed to complete job tasks.

Job Concepts

Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced CNC/Machinist Training Instructor to join our team. The instructor will be responsible for delivering comprehensive CNC/Machinist training to individuals on BPCC campuses and at various correctional facilities throughout Northwest Louisiana. The ideal candidate will emphasize safety and proper equipment handling in all lessons ensuring students acquire the necessary skills to operate machines proficiently and safely in various industrial and commercial environments. This role requires a high degree of flexibility in scheduling and a willingness to travel to various training locations.

Examples of Work

  • Teaches assigned machine tool technology courses and associated labs in accordance with the colleges workload policy.
  • Maintains written instructional standards.
  • Facilitates instruction in accordance with instructional standards using alternative delivery methods as needed.
  • Posts and maintains office hours in accordance with policy.
  • Maintains familiarity and adherence to school policy.
  • Participates in the assessment and development of student learning outcomes.
    Establishes maintains and submits accurate student and instructional records in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the preparation of course proposals curriculum instructional materials and evaluation tools.
  • Reviews and updates course outlines textbooks laboratories and course procedure sheets for welding technology courses.
  • Assists with curriculum updates and the construction of degree/certificate programs.
  • Applies and maintains standards of quality operating methods processes systems and procedures such as and in accordance with industry standards.
  • Implements changes as necessary to maintain a successful machine tool technology program.
  • Integrates knowledge of customers competitors other industries industry groups and professional training to continuously improve program quality.
  • Works as part of an instructional team by participating in machine tool technology course scheduling department division and college meetings.
  • Serves on college committees as assigned.
  • Works to maintain the integrity of department curriculum.
  • Maintains partnerships with local area employers to assist in arranging field experiences for program students.
  • Collaborates with college community and area high schools in support of machine tool technology events and competitions.
  • Assists in recruiting students and supporters to the program.
  • Participates in job fairs recruiting events and other special events related to the machine tool technology program.
  • Maintains equipment and supply inventory.
  • Act as advisers to student organizations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
  • Advise students on academic and vocational curricula and career planning.
  • Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies departmental matters and academic issues..
  • Other duties as assigned.
