The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATOs member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels Belgium.

The program
Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS)
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATOs principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider. It provides maintains and defends the NATO enterprisewide information technology infrastructure to enable Allies to consult together under Article IV and when required stand together in the face of attack under Article V.
To provide these critical services in the modern evolving dynamic environment the NCI Agency needs to build and maintain high performanceengaged workforce. The NCI Agency workforce strategically consists of three major categorises: NATO International Civilians (NIC)s Military (Mil) and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC)s. The IWCs are a critical part of the overall NCI Agency workforce and make up approximately 15 percent of the total workforce.
Role Background
The Directorate of CIS Support Units (DCSU) is responsible to manage deliver and maintain assigned Communications and Information System (CIS) products and services for the Agencys customers including NATO Headquarters (NHQ) the NATO Command Structure (NCS) NATO Force Structure (NFS) Nations and internal Agency users. DCSU provides liaison planning and coordinating functions for Alliance Missions Operations and Exercises. Services are delivered in coordination with the Enterprise Service Operations Centre (ESOC) and Agency Service Lines/Service Centres under the Enterprise Service Delivery Model (ESDM). NCIA CIS Support Unit (CSU) located in Bydgoszcz (POL) enables endtoend CIS services as it installs operates maintains and supports the full range of CIS capabilities during peacetime crisis and war throughout its allocated Area of Responsibility (AOR) and as otherwise directed. CSU Bydgoszcz supports the CIS planning and of Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC) Programme of Work training events for up to hundreds of NATO participants. Service Operations Branch (SOB) is the local technology and infrastructure engineering think tank under the direct guidance of the CSU Bydgoszcz Commander. SOB is responsible for the installation operation and maintenance of all communication and information systems including NATO owned ICT infrastructure datacenter environment and communication facilities supporting the Information Exchange Requirements (IER) of JFTC customers as agreed by SLAs. It executes all ICTbased projects by implementing changes to the infrastructure and configuration maintaining the project documentation mitigating risks and integrating all crossfunctional technical areas. SOB supports the lifecycle of the ICT infrastructure ensuring that all hardware assets underpinning agreements and funds are properly managed. It delivers inputs and technical advice to all business processes including Training Events planning ICT purchase process Change and Configuration Management. The branch provides expertise in ICT experimentation and integration of the ICT innovations especially within the NATO EETE discipline. The team supports the local Incident / Problem Management process including Level 12 support and overall troubleshooting of all ICT resources. Service Operations Branch runs JFTC IT infrastructure providing all ICT services supporting various NATO Exercises in accordance with training and mission requirements. SO Branch supports directly delivery of ICT resources and services as the cloud computing environment the pillar for future Connected Forced Initiative (CFI). Service Operations team is heavily involved in local onsite support during Exercises andrunning the local datacenter. The Technical Management Section is responsible for all system administration hardware andsoftware support setting up servers and subsequent system upgrades for servers andworkstations. Reconfiguration of all ICT networks as required by various Training. Events. The Team applies security policies to all ICT networks either on server or connectivity layer as well as maintains links around the facility. Configuration Management team administers and customizes all operating systems SAN cabling hubs switches routers and patch panels. Teams area of responsibility covers local datacente as well as distributed training locations. On the top of it the team contributes to the Configuration Management process for the local hardware and software assets. The Section is responsible for installation operations and maintenance of all telecommunication systems within JFTC.
Objectives
CIS network administration service delivers technical expertise and takes responsibility for the assigned networking devices and routine operation and maintenance of common LAN services over the NATO classified and unclassified domains as well as ensures physical and electronic security of the systems. Service provides Level 1 and Level 2 support to users community.
