You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Finance and Accounting Analyst 2 for the academic mission providing financial analytic services to the Senior Director of Budget & Finance and the Academics Budget Manager. This is a seniorlevel position that applies advanced knowledge and skills; often performs difficult and complex tasks and provides guidance assistance and training to more juniorlevel analysts. Typically assigned to support larger and/or more complex area teams.
This position will gather & analyze financial data organize data into accessible reports and perform various types of analysis using key metrics provide forecasting support process financial transactions budgeting and report consolidation. The Finance and Accounting Analyst 2 provides all aspects of the financial process and procedures interpretation reporting financial analysis to support operating activities special projects and initiatives.
Services include analysis of budget variances & recommendations to correct negative trends or variances. Provides consolidated financial reports for Senior Director of Budget & Finance Academics Budget Manager Vice Provost of Finance & Administration and other directors as needed. Prepares financial reports and projections with options for improving budget performance and cost efficiency. Assists in the preparation of the Operating and Capital budgets. Provides costbenefit analysis of existing or new programs. Processes financial transactions purchasing A/P and A/R Journal Entries and approve Pcard transactions.
This position must be detail oriented possess strong financial & organizational skills be flexible have the ability to work in a team environment as well as being selfdirected have ability to set and prioritize obtainable goals and work efficiently under pressure of multiple deadlines for multiple areas.

Reporting & Variance Analysis: Utilizing OHSU financial systems prepares monthly financial reports with variance analysis including recommendations for mediating negative trends. Reforecasts actual financial performance based on changing business conditions. Prepares monthly financial reports for Directors and Managers under the Provost and SVPR together with an executive summary for the Senior Director of Budget & Finance and the Academics Budget Manager. Under the direction of Director prepares cost benefit analysis risk analysis new program proformas.
General Accounting Duties: Duties include Labor Distribution (LD) PO preparation Journal Entries data entry ledger reconciliation variance reporting and investigating Pcard & Oracle requests account & expense documentation data management monitor & resolve open POs & invoices on hold. Includes working with appropriate offices at OHSU (Provost CRO A/P Purchasing etc. to resolve accounting issues. Approves & Processes financial transactions including disbursements reimbursements pcard reconciliations invoice payments and departmental purchasing.
Prepares Annual Budgets: Serves as a financial resource by understanding all commitments tracking and ensuring that project financial goals are met. Includes preparing operating and capital budgets being knowledgeable about budget policies by interacting with Senior Director of Budget & Finance and the Academics Budget Manager project leads and CFS to prepare budgets understanding & ensuring adherence to compensation plans preparing financial forecasts with a variety of variables & scenarios tracking expenses variance reporting & investigating reconciliations preparing financial statements/reports/projections and providing oral & written financial advice for health of projects.
Special Projects & Initiative Funds: Manages expenditures & tracking for Special Projects/Initiative Funding. Works with departments to appropriately account for expenses incurred meet regularly with project leads to review spend timelines and ensures proper accounting works with CFS to process reimbursements on a monthly/quarterly basis. Approves request made against initiative funding. Makes corrections as needed.
Provides oral & written advice/recommendations to Senior Director of Budget & Finance and the Academics Budget Manager project leads etc. on financial matters including but not limited to A/P purchasing (includes pcard) Oracle Provosts Office & CFS policies and procedures.
Other related duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field from an accredited college or university and minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience. If from a related field candidate must have 36 hours of accounting courses from an accredited college or university. All candidates must be highly proficient with the use of computers including database and spreadsheet applications. Demonstrate proficiency of accounting principles (e.g. GAAP).
Prior Academic Health Center or relevant financial specific experience performing analysis related to operational improvements and business cases.
Highly proficient with use of PC including database and spreadsheet applications.
Intermediate spreadsheet skills including complex functions formulas and formatting.
Experience with relational databases.
Understanding of financial reporting concepts such as cost accounting and net present value analysis.
Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult with internal and external customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature.
Proficient in Oracle & Cognos/Rubix software including General Ledger iProcurement and Labor Distribution.
Experience in central funding allocations and state funding.
Familiarity with OHSU Fiscal Policies and Procedures.
