ICAN is a therapistowned and operated multidisciplinary clinic with 2 locations in Bellevue Washington. We are committed to the best hope and future for children serving a diverse population ages birth to 21 years.

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled special education teacher to lead our ICAN Read & Write summer program for neurodiverse children in grades K2. This program aims to provide a supportive and engaging environment for students to maintain and develop their skills throughout the summer months. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with disabilities and excellent problemsolving skills.

Essential components of this position are listed below but subject to change at the discretion of ICAN. This job description describes essential job functions but does not provide an exhaustive list of duties that may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a mixedaged classroom in which many children will be accompanied with 1:1 support staff
  • Plan and organize daily activities aligned with program goals and themes
  • Lead engaging lessons and activities that promote school readiness and academic skill maintenance
  • Facilitate structured and unstructured opportunities for social skill development and peer interaction
  • Collaborate with SLPs OTs PTs and BCBAs to ensure comprehensive support for students
  • Manage classroom materials and resources
  • Communicate regularly with parents and therapy team regarding student progress challenges and successes
  • Foster inclusive environment and champion the classroom culture

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education Elementary Education or related field
  • Active Washington State teaching certification preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children with special needs
  • Experience in planning and organizing group activities for children
  • Knowledge of individualized education strategies for students with diverse needs
  • Strong communication and problemsolving skills
  • Patience empathy and ability to work with children who may exhibit barrier behaviors
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (SLPs OTs PTs BCBAs)
