Design Engineer Interior/Exterior Plastics
The Design Engineer is responsible for delivering highquality design and engineering solutions for customers working with a high level of autonomy.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead product development efforts negotiating designs and requirements to meet quality feasibility cost and profitability goals.
- Collaborate with teams to create 2D/3D product proposals delegate tasks and manage design changes.
- Benchmark competitor components and emerging technologies to enhance competitiveness.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in design analysis measurement testing and prototyping.
- Create technical reports manage open items and prepare presentation packages for internal and external stakeholders.
- Improve component designs establish design guidelines and align development processes with quality standards.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to resolve component issues and ensure functional requirements are met.
- Participate in Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and implement design improvements based on findings.
- Utilize new technologies to enhance product development and streamline processes.
- Evaluate and develop suppliers based on stability reliability and costeffectiveness.
- Apply engineering logic and calculations to design and resolve issues with complex plastic components and injection molding processes.
- Support continuous improvement efforts in a collaborative teamoriented environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering preferably Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years experience designing and engineering plastic injection molded components.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T tolerance stackup studies injection molding and tooling fundamentals.
- Experience with injection tooling processing and Mold Flow CAE analysis is preferred.
- Proficiency with CAD software Microsoft Office and project management tools.
- Strong problemsolving organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
