The Sleep Technologist Lead supports the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in patients. Working under some supervision this role performs sleep monitoring and analysis to improve patients sleep quality and wellbeing performs procedures and testing in adherence to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) guidelines.
Responsibilities
Prepares and sets up sleep study equipment and monitoring devices for patients undergoing sleep studies. Conducts comprehensive patient assessments including interviewing patients to gather medical history and sleeprelated information. Monitors patients physiological data during sleep studies such as brain waves heart rate respiratory patterns and oxygen levels. Educates patients about the sleep study procedure sleep hygiene and the importance of following treatment recommendations. Collaborates with sleep medicine physicians and other healthcare professionals to interpret sleep study results and provide treatment recommendations. Participates in the implementation and titrations of the several therapies; Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) such as Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) Bilevel Adaptive Servo Ventilation (ASV) and Inspire Fine Tuning. Administers testing on pediatric patients with and without capnography. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate degree in Polysomnography Respiratory Therapy or a related field
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 3 years of clinical experience with sleep disorders
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: Registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist as a RPSGT; Registered by the North Carolina Medical Board as a BRPT; BLS (CPR)American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
