Hotel Chief Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated hotel Chief Engineer with a positive attitude and willingness to teach. One who is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of the hotels physical infrastructure including its mechanical electrical plumbing and HVAC systems. They ensure the proper functioning of all equipment supervise the maintenance staff and coordinate with other hotel departments to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for guests and employees while following company and brand standards.

Core Job Responsibilities & Duties

  • Greets guests immediately with friendly/sincere acknowledgement throughout the hotel
  • Understand and follow company and brand standards
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program to ensure the efficient operation of all systems and equipment in the hotel
  • Must conduct regular inspections perform preventative maintenance and coordinate repairs as needed
  • Manage a team of maintenance technicians and ensure they are properly trained motivated and equipped to carry out their duties
  • Provide guidance support and performance feedback to ensure the highest level of productivity and professionalism
  • Oversee the installation operation and maintenance of all mechanical electrical plumbing and HVAC systems in the hotel
  • Ensure elevators fire safety systems generators water heaters and other essential equipment are always operating
  • Develop and manage the maintenance departments budget including equipment purchases repairs and maintenance contracts
  • Monitor expenses and implement costsaving measures without compromising quality and safety standards
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes safety regulations and environmental policies
  • Conduct regular safety inspections maintain accurate records and address any issues promptly to minimize risks and liability
  • Plan and oversee major renovation or construction projects within the hotel
  • Collaborate with architects contractors and vendors to ensure tasks are completed on a timely manner while adhering to budgetary constraints
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with other hotel departments to address maintenance needs coordinate repairs and minimize disruptions to guests
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other departments as needed
  • Ensure that all cleaning equipment & supplies are used and stored properly

Qualification Standards & Company Requirements

  • Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fastpaced environment
  • Ability to tolerate environmental factors such as humidity cold/heat dust and noise.
  • Excellent leadership problemsolving and decisionmaking skills required
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes
  • Physically able to work from ladders move furniture operate cleaning equipment and tolerate exposure to general cleaning chemicals
  • Several years of experience in a supervisory role within the hotel or hospitality industry required
  • Strong knowledge of building systems including mechanical electrical plumbing and HVAC required
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other relevant software(s) as required by hotel
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field; professional certification or licensure preferred
