Summary/objective: Provides accurate and timely accounting and/or business management services to Archdiocese of Detroits (AOD) large and complex parishes and nonparish schools (NPS). Essential Duties/Responsibilities: - Accounting and business management services. Including but not limited to:
- Invoicing tuition on the FACTS system
- Bill payment recording and reconciliation of financial transactions
- Coordinating and assisting with budget preparation and providing monthly financial reporting
- Preparing annual financial report
- Payroll processing and payroll tax reporting
- Assistance in implementing internal controls and/or assistance in implementing financial audit recommendations.
- Visit parishes/schools as necessary to pick up or deliver financial records and communicate financial information to pastor and staff
- Attend Parish Finance Council (PFC) meetings
- Collaborate with other AOD departments including Department of Finance and Administration Department of Catholic Schools Department of Parish Care and Sustainability and the Department of Human Resources regarding financial and administrative issues and concerns.
- Assist in developing financial policies and procedures for parishes and/or schools with direction and approval of the Chief Financial Officer.
Skills: - Proficient in Microsoft Office Products with a special emphasis on Excel
- Ability to operate accounting software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding problemsolving abilities
- Knowledge of arithmetic algebra and their applications
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Sound judgement in decision making and high ethical and integrity standards when handling privileged AOD financial matters
- Ability to work independently
Physical Demands: Position requires the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work. May involve some lifting carrying pushing/or pulling of objects and materials 550 pounds). May involve extended periods of time standing or sitting at a keyboard or workstation. May involve repetitive motion (i.e. typing). May involve walking long distances.
Travel Required: Travel throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Education and Experience Requirements: A bachelors degree in accounting along withthree or more years of experienceinaccounting or a similar fieldor an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
