Heres What You Need
- Associates Degree in Nursing required and
- BachelorsDegree in Nursing preferred
- 40 hour adult/adolescent sexual examiner course preferred (meeting the minimum Texas Office of the Attorney Generals SANE Education requirements)
- 2 years as a clinical nurse required
- RN upon hire required and
- BCLS prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
- SANE within 12 months of hire required and
What You Will Do
Trainee will prepare to become an Office of the Attorney General (OAG) certified Sexual Nurse Examiner (SANE); once TX OAG SANE certification is achieved will transfer from Trainee position to a SANE PRN II or SANE PRN III position. Training to achieve OAG SANE Certification includes completing didactic and clinical within one year of beginning training as per the signed SANE Education Agreement. Once certified will maintain certification minimum of two years. Renewal every two years requires ongoing clinical and continuing education.
Travel required Texas Health SANE Program responds to the following wholly owned entities in two divisions:
NE: Texas Health Dallas (primary hub) Texas Health Denton and Texas Health Kaufman.
SW: Texas Health Fort Worth (primary hub) Texas Health Alliance Texas Health Arlington Memorial Texas Health Azle Texas Health Cleburne Texas Health HEB and Texas Health Southwest.
Texas Health Stephenville and Texas Health Cleburne have a separate on call group at times.

- Perform a complete sexual medical forensic examination including obtaining a medical history for the purpose of treatment detailed headtotoe assessment for trauma to include all body orifices and forensic specimen collection as indicated by history or examination findings; documentation to possibly include photography
- Develop expertise and knowledge in performing medical forensic sexual exams to include but not limited to forensic science trauma and related issues legal case law and statutes evidence collection procedures and emerging trends
- Participates in professional development including staff meetings inservices and county state or national levels of peer review as determined by the SANE Program leadership.
- Maintain professional standards that do not create conflict of interest with employment or patient care including patient and medical record confidentiality7 or less bullet points
- Maintain all Human Resource requirements for continued employment in a timely manner such as but not limited to licensure annual employee health assessment annual MyTalent modules and CheckIn evaluations.
