Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Risk Management our Senior Analyst Model Risk Governance is a key member of Haventrees Enterprise Risk Management team and second line of defense. You will bring your energy collaborating mindset and passion for winning as you lead all aspects of the Model Governance program for Haventree Bank. As a specialist in this field you will lay the foundation of the model risk program at the bank establishing processes for the end to end model lifecycle including oversight responsibilities all from the ground up.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the development implementation and continuous improvement of a comprehensive Model Governance framework that supports business objectives while ensuring consistency quality and compliance across all models.
- Develops and performs quantitative and qualitative validation processes for both models and nonmodels (EUCs) to evaluate control effectiveness model compliance with policies testing and performance monitoring.
- Coordinate the lifecycle of models from design and development through to deployment and monitoring ensuring accurate documentation versioning and approval processes.
- Partner with Data Analytics IT and business teams to ensure governance is embedded throughout the model lifecycle.
- Establish and maintain an audit trail for the model lifecycle to ensure adherence to policies to satisfy internal and external audit requirements.
- Implement and monitor controls to manage the risks associated with models.
- Drive continuous improvements in the model governance framework ensuring it evolves to meet changing business regulatory and technological needs.
- Act as a primary contact for any inquiries related to model governance offering expert advice and recommendations to collaborators throughout the organization.
- Recommends risk appetite limits policies and standards.
- Manages relationships with model developers owners and users influencing and advising on model risk matters.
- Responsible for providing effective challenge to model stakeholders through the model lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degrees Diplomas & Certifications:
- A postgraduate or advanced degree in quantitative fields such as Applied Statistics Actuarial Science Data Science Financial Mathematics or Engineering or related fields
Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:
- 3 years of handson experience in model development validation or model governance within a financial institution particularly in the retail credit risk area.
- Extensive experience in model governance regulatory compliance and risk management.
- Proven experience governing various models and EUCs.
- Experience working with data services data analytics and IT teams to implement governance processes across the model lifecycle.
- Excellent communication and collaborator leadership skills with the ability to influence and work with senior leadership technical teams and other collaborators.
- Experience in retail credit risk models.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python R SAS or SQL.
- Background in retail banking residential mortgage lending or financial services for an OSFI regulated Financial Institution is preferred.
- The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional organization and time management skills.
