Earlham College is seeking an Assistant Professor of Data Science to join our team.
Job Summary:
Earlham College invites applications for a tenuretrack position in the Data Science Program at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in July 2025. Data Science at Earlham exists at the intersection of computer science and math serving students across the liberal arts spectrum. Earlham honors experiential education and collaboration with other departments as key components of our approach. We are committed to building an inclusive program that is welcoming to a wide variety of students and faculty. Our students are engaged in a high level of undergraduate research with faculty.
Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
hold a Ph.D. in data science mathematics applied mathematics statistics computer science or a closely related discipline by the start date. It is possible that candidates who are ABD or in exceptional circumstances have equivalent experience will also be considered.
teach courses across the data science curriculum including Statistical Modeling for Data Science and Mathematical Statistics
conduct data science research involving undergraduate students at Earlham
demonstrate experience with and a passion for innovative teaching
demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusion and belongingness
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
be passionate about the intersection between data science and the liberal arts
embrace collaboration with fellow Earlham faculty
have experience working with others outside their field
have experience in building diverse and inclusive communities
consideration given to candidates with specializations in Data Science Math Computer Science or Informatics
