Job Title: Pool Candidate for Spanish Teacher Wage/ Status: Exempt

Westlake Academy is a K12 openenrollment public charter school operated by the Town of Westlake Texas. The Academy is committed to academic excellence and globalmindedness through its International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. The school fosters a culture of inquiry collaboration and innovation to develop wellrounded students prepared for leadership roles in a dynamic and interconnected world.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Westlake Academy is seeking qualified and enthusiastic candidates to join its pool of Spanish teachers for middle and high school levels. Candidates in this pool will be considered for future teaching opportunities as positions for theschool year. Faculty members are expected to uphold the principles of the IB curriculum while fostering a rigorous engaging and studentcentered learning environment.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Priority will be given to applicants who possess:
- Masters degree in Spanish Education or related field
- Knowledge of International Baccalaureate (IB) programs
- 13 years of experience in an IB World School
- IBEN Member
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Spanish Education or a related field
- State teaching certification; IB training is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of the IB philosophy and its emphasis on inquiry internationalmindedness and academic rigor.
- Excellent communication collaboration and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to engage students in meaningful and innovative learning
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan deliver and assess highquality lessons that align with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and/or Diploma Programme (DP) framework.
- Develop and implement studentcentered inquirybased learning experiences that foster critical thinking communication and collaboration.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and align instruction with IB standards.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social emotional and academic needs of all students.
- Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and support student learning.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge of IB philosophy and pedagogy.
- Communicate effectively with students parents and colleagues to support student success.
OTHER DUTIES:
Other duties may be assigned at any time by the supervisor.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the direct supervisor.

Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying 1544 lbs.; may lift and move equipment; occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior.
Environment: Work inside may work outside.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; may work prolonged or irregular hours.
