Reviews lab results xrays and MRI/CT results prior to entering patient exam room.
Takes patient history and records the information in the patients chart.
Confers with physicians about new patient findings and potential diagnosis and treatment before they see each patient.
Obtains needed equipment for exam room procedures.
Prepares therapeutic injections and assists with minor procedures as needed.
Reviews preoperative instructions and explains the surgical process to patients who are about to have surgery.
Assists physician with orders for preoperative tests CT scans and MRIs.
Performs patient education duties; shows surgical videos hands out brochures and directs patients to specific Internet sites for more information.
Provides oneonone clinic care as needed under the supervision of a physician and in accordance with the quality standards of the department including (taking a history performing an initial evaluation proxy orders fitting of braces and splints per protocols providing therapy per protocols and assisting with outpatient procedures such as injections). Individuals must have the knowledge base to be able to evaluate and report findings to the physician.
Works collaboratively with Practice Manager and Vice President of Ambulatory Service to ensure the Medical Centers Mission Values Statements are amplified each day in the outpatient care area.
Works with the Practice Manager to ensure safe and professional patient care.
Provides education sessions to registered medical assistants to continue to improve: patient experience triage work flow customer service and other areas identified.
Follows patients discharged from the Emergency Room and acts as a patient navigator for that patient population ensuring that proper followup is maintained.

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures objectives quality assurance program safety environmental and infection control standards.
Assesses gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.
Understands and adheres to the Medical Centers Code of Conduct.
Familiar with the Medical Centers Mission Vision and Values Statements.

Attends monthly staff meetings
Answers telephone calls utilizing the proper standards of telephone etiquette
Performs other related duties as required.
Education:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Athletic Training required
Experience:
1 to 3 years Customer Service Experience; prior Registration Knowledge required
Skills:
Current Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification.
Current Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the State of New Jersey.
Two years of experience in a physician office or hospital preferred.
Ability to make independent decisions about patient care.
Working knowledge of managed care basics and experience working with a managed care and Medicare population.
Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications.
Knowledge of practice management and word processing software.
