Lead Grow and Inspire Through Community Sport.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to step into a strategic leadership role at one of Launcestons most vibrant sporting organisations. As the General Manager of the Launceston Basketball Association (LBA) youll lead with resilience integrity flexibility and impartiality to shape the future of grassroots basketball in Northern Tasmania.
This position goes far beyond stadium operationsits about driving real community impact overseeing a growing team and budget and taking LBA to the next level through sound governance innovation and stakeholder engagement.
As General Manager you will:
Lead a team of 4 direct staff and provide strategic direction across all levels of the association
Oversee the design and management of the annual budget in collaboration with the Bookkeeper Board and Treasurer
Deliver highquality basketball programs while ensuring child safeguarding and regulatory compliance
Represent LBA across stakeholders including clubs government sponsors and the wider community
Attend monthly board meetings and engage at key events such as grand finals (approx. 2 evening commitments per month)
Drive sponsorship funding initiatives and partnerships to fuel future growth
Oversee systems such as Xero PlayHQ TeamPay RefBook Canva and Glory League (experience not required digital literacy essential)
Were looking for a valuesled forwardthinking leader with:
Proven experience in leading teams in the sporting community or notforprofit sectors
Financial management capability including budget preparation and reporting
High digital literacy and confidence using tools like Excel and business platforms
Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders
A proactive mindset and the ability to navigate challenging or political environments with professionalism
A Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) check (or willingness to obtain) and full drivers licence
We would love it if you had:
Experience in basketball operations or sport management
Familiarity with governance frameworks in notforprofit or childfocused settings
The LBA has doubled in size over the past seven years and is now poised for further growth. This is your chance to lead that journey. Youll be supported by a skilled board a passionate team and a highly engaged community.
