Position:Manager Indigenous Portfolio

Reporting to:Senior Manager Equity & Inclusive Partnerships

About You:

  • You have lived and/or extensive professional experience working with Indigenous peoples and communities in Canada
  • Experience with the design implementation and continuous improvement of programs
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with experience presenting to and engaging diverse audiences
  • A passion for youth mental health and/or experience in the notforprofit sector


Your Impact:

The Manager Indigenous Portfolio will be responsible for contributing to the development and leading the and evaluation of Jack.orgs Indigenous programming. The successful candidate will apply Indigenous knowledge and cultural equity best practices to adapt and enhance Jack.orgs mental health resources for Indigenous youth. This role requires a strong project manager who can engage Indigenous organizations communities and stakeholders to increase the reach and impact of Jack.orgs initiatives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Development &

  • Drive the design implementation and continuous improvement of Indigenousfocused programming across Jack.orgs key initiatives including Jack Talks Jack Community and Jack Digital.
  • Ensure that programs meet the needs of Indigenous youth and align with organizational goals.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to incorporate Indigenous perspectives into programming training materials and outreach strategies.
  • Provide strategic oversight on the integration of Indigenous knowledge and best practices into mental health programming.

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities Elders youth organizations educators and leaders to enhance engagement.
  • Actively promote Jack.orgs programs within Indigenous communities school boards and identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration.
  • Represent Jack at community events conferences and meetings advocating for Indigenous youth mental health.
  • Develop culturally appropriate outreach strategies to increase program participation among Indigenous youth.

CrossDepartmental Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work across various departments (e.g. Programs Development Communications Impact) to support and guide Indigenous initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to support staff ensuring efficient program delivery.
  • Support internal training efforts to increase awareness and cultural competency regarding Indigenous issues and realities.

Budget & Program Management

  • Develop and manage budgets for Indigenous programming ensuring financial responsibility and alignment with funding requirements.
  • Track and evaluate program outcomes ensuring program effectiveness and impact.
  • Collaborate with the Development & Partnerships teams to align programming with funding priorities and reporting requirements.

Advancing Equity & Inclusion

  • Champion Indigenous perspectives within Jack advocating for equitable policies resources and decisionmaking processes.
  • Ensure all programming is culturally safe traumainformed and responsive to the unique needs of Indigenous youth.
  • Identify and address barriers to Indigenous participation in Jack initiatives.

Desired Skills and Competencies

  • Lived and/or extensive professional experience working with Indigenous peoples and communities in Canada.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in program management Indigenous outreach or related fields.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement and relationshipbuilding with Indigenous partners.
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures histories and mental health realities.
  • Experience with budgeting program deliverables and working within a nonprofit/NGO environment.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with experience presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a crossfunctional team environment.

NicetoHaves (Assets)

  • Experience in mental health advocacy or programming.
  • Familiarity with grant reporting and funding partner engagement.
  • Proficiency in French and/or an Indigenous language.

Experience using Salesforce Asana or other project management tools.
