About the Position
Under the general supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) the Director of Human Resources holds full strategic and operational responsibility for the entire HR lifecycle. This leadership role is proactive and serviceoriented consistently demonstrating responsiveness partnership flexibility and a collaborative approach to problemsolving.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
Leadership
- Provide human resources leadership consulting to CEO and Executive Leadership Team on major issues related to HR and employment
- Act as the steward/ambassador of the YWCA SHR mission and values to foster a positive climate among YWCA SHR team members
- Implement a human resources strategy and multiyear plan that ensures human resources services are integrated and aligned with organizational needs
- Provide team coaching and mentorship and offer culturally relevant conflict resolution and problemsolving strategies
- Partner with leadership in support of organizational goals and objectives and ensure policies and practices are managed consistently and fairly
- Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations Human Resource Management System (HRMS)
Management
- Manages the administration of human resource programs including but not limited to compensation benefits and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity recognition and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
- Manage and maintain the organizations Human Resources Management System (HRMS) in collaboration with the Finance team
- Manage personnel records for all employees
Compliance
- Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance
- Manage the organizations mandatory training and statutory compliance; keep records and submit reports as required by law
- Ensure all YWCA SHR leadership adheres to legal and operational compliance requirements affecting team members
- Provide leadership representation and oversight for all legal compliance issues including but not limited to court cases unemployment risk management and any legal issues that impact the organizations operations policies staffing and clients
- Remain current with employment laws and regulations and changes and current trends in human resources practices
Compensation and Benefits
- Design compensation plan including job descriptions and classifications; conduct compensation analysis and market research for salary structures and adjustments
- Manage an employee benefits program that maximizes value to team members including vendor and broker relationships enrollments communication with employees and prospective employees about benefits and changes to benefits processing leaves and verifying and processing documentation for COBRA
- Supervise the communication enrollment and administration of plans administrative processes including invoice reconciliation and offboarding
- Assess the competitiveness of human resources programs and practices in relevant markets and make recommendations for improvements and changes.
Employee Relations and Talent Management
- Directly handle employee relations issues conducting and documenting investigations where necessary.
- Coach and advise managers on employee performance issues and personnel matters
- Oversee the recruitment and onboarding processes including support for job descriptions job advertising applicant screening interviewing background checks and new hire orientation.
- Support the recruitment and onboarding process for volunteers
- Process unemployment and workers compensation documentation
Additional Duties
- Adhere to all YWCA SHR policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related field from an accredited college/university required; Masters degree preferred
- SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRMSCP) or SHRM Certified Professional
- (SHRMCP) certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of professional Human Resources generalist experience including experience with employee relations benefits administration and compensation
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
- Previous experience with Paylocity HRMS is preferred
- The ability to work in a multilocation environment
Other Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must complete the training programs of YWCA SHR
- Must complete a successful background check
- Must have an excellent driving record and have a valid drivers license; certificate of insurance from an insurance carrier licensed in the State of Virginia
- Travel is required and access to reliable transportation is essential

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a typical office environment with a high standard of confidentiality. A typical work week is MTH 9:00am5:00pm and F 9:00am4:00pm.

COMPENSATION: This position offers a hiring range of $65000 $68000 that is based on experience and a full benefits packet to include health vision and dental insurance 17 paid holidays vacation sick leave retirement and other benefits.
