Tech Maintenance - Tool Room

As a Maintenance Technician you will setup and operate conventional special purpose and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

AS A MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN YOU WILL:

• Demonstrate understanding of and adherence to all safety protocols for operating lathes mills welders and other standard tool room equipment.

• Read blueprints sketches drawings manuals specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece sequence of operations and setup requirements.

• Measure mark and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.

• Select align and secure holding fixtures cutting tools attachments accessories and materials on machines such as mills lathes jig borers grinders and shapers.

• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed feed coolant flow depth and angle of cut; enters commands to retrieve input or edit computerized machine control media.

• Start and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or outoftolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

• Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications.

• Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

• Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly.

• Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly.

• Install machined replacement parts in mechanisms machines and equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.

• Operate welding equipment to cut or weld parts.

• Develop specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.

• Confer with engineers production personnel programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

• Must be available periodically for emergency callin after hours and flexible schedule hours.

• Other duties may be assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch handle or feel; occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision and ability to adjust focus.

REQUIRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Journeyman machinist level skills with a minimum of five years or Associates Degree in a Technical Field plus at least 5 years experience.

• Candidate must be knowledgeable in the following components: machines and tools including their design use repair and maintenance; raw material production process quality control costing and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods; math skills should include: algebra geometry trigonometry and their application to the duties of machinist; design techniques tools and principles involved in production of high precision technical plans blueprints drawings and models.
