Job Description

Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources the Senior Personnel Officer performs a variety of duties including but not limited to general administrative personnel and payroll functions for the Human Resources Division.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the first point of contact for the Human Resources unit.
  • Prepares correspondence answers phones and responds to the general public and electronic inquiries.
  • Prepares and processes various transactions and electronic forms relating to personnel actions including but not limited to New hires transfers terminations employee status changes personnel orders and budget amendments.
  • Prepares and processes payroll and related transactions including but limited to Payroll adjustments absence management and timekeeping etc.
  • Assists in the preparation and administration of leave accrual buyback programs and buyouts upon separation from the department.
  • Responsible for managing various Payroll and Personnel databases including Leave of absence tracking Time and Attendance and absence management etc.
  • Prepares and disseminates attendance records and entitlement information.
  • Researches adjustments for sick vacation prior service and personal leave balances as needed.
  • Performs a variety of clerical duties for research and special projects.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of three 3 years of fulltime or equivalent parttime paid professional experience in Human Resources Payroll or related office work.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite is required.
  • Strong word processing and database skills are preferred.
  • Demonstrated problemsolving interpersonal and teamwork skills preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.

Criminal background check (CORI/SORI) is required.

BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED
