Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:1. Certified in Reading (or eligible for certification)2. At least 3 years of teaching experience3. Prefer Title I experienceREPORTS TO: Title I Director and Building PrincipalJOB GOAL:The successful candidate will provide instruction that will enable each student in the building to master the reading skills appropriate to age grade level and individual ability.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES1. Administers the Title I reading program.2. Interprets student needs and progress in reading to the classroom teacher and to the parents.3. Establishes a broadly based reading materials center including a professional library on reading.4. Develops individual instructional activities which improve student performance.5. Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies to best meet the needs of individual students.6. Implements small group instructional support for each student.7. Implements ongoing assessment to monitor growth.8. Maintains appropriate records and reports to Title I Director.9. Meets regularly with Title I Director to establish future goals and identify specific needs in the area of reading.
