Job Overview:
Person High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Strength and Conditioning Coach to design and implement training programs that enhance the performance fitness and injury resilience of studentathletes across all sports. The ideal candidate will work closely with coaches athletic trainers and studentathletes to foster a culture of strength agility and injury prevention while promoting a safe and positive training environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee comprehensive strength and conditioning programs tailored to the needs of male and female athletes across multiple sports.
- Implement training techniques that enhance strength speed endurance flexibility and injury prevention.
- Provide instruction on proper weightlifting techniques agility drills and recovery protocols.
- Collaborate with head coaches and athletic trainers to align training regimens with team goals and injury management strategies.
- Maintain an organized safe and professional weight room and training space.
- Educate athletes on nutrition recovery and overall wellness strategies.
- Monitor and assess athlete progress making datadriven adjustments as necessary.
- Enforce school and athletic department safety conduct and performance expectations policies.
- Stay current with best practices in strength training conditioning and sports science.
- Determine and reinforce expectations for athlete conduct that mirror Person High Schools expectations for curricular and extracurricular activities as stated in the Student Code of Conduct.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Required: BS in Exercise Science Kinesiology Sports Medicine or a related field.
- Preferred: Minimum of three years of experience in education
- Certifications: CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or USAW (USA Weightlifting) certification preferred
- Experience designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for high school or collegiate athletes.
- Must know how to operate strength training equipment automated external defibrillator (AED) and sports aid equipment.
- Current standard first aid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
- Evidence of ability to interact positively with student athletes colleagues and the public.
- Evidence of strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the athletes. Ability to visually monitor athletes. Sitting standing lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds) reaching squatting climbing stairs kneeling and moving equipment/boxes up to 50 lbs.
Safety and Health Requirements:
- Current standard first aid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
- Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
- Knowledge of current NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards and Guidelines.

Work Environment:
Must be able to work within various degrees of noise temperature and air quality. Work surfaces will vary from concrete to grass to hard wood floors. Job responsibilities require both inside and outside assignments. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. Evening and weekend work will be expected. May make site or home visits when needed and appropriate. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
