Reports to: Early Learning Initiatives Manager

Classification

Type: fulltime hourly nonexempt position

Schedule: Approximately 40 hours a week with occasional weekends events and holidays.

Minimum starting hourly rate: $18/hr

Scott Family Amazeum Overview

The Scott Family Amazeum is a handson interactive museum in Northwest Arkansas and recognized as a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization. We create a fun environment where risk taking imagining problem solving discovery collaboration and exploration bring children and adults together to learn and grow.

Core Purpose: The Amazeum exists to spark and nurture the curious and creative spirit in all of us.

Through experiences with the Amazeum individuals and the community are engaged in building relationships and developing identities as creative curious and innovative shapers for the region. Learning at the Amazeum is an active playful exploration that inspires curiosity. It is rooted in inquirybased discovery and involves an element of risk. The Education Department of the Amazeum is looking for team members who are enthusiastic about promoting Creativity Curiosity and Community.

The Amazeum facility includes approximately 50000 square feet of indoor space and one acre of outdoor exhibition and activity space. The museum is located at the intersection of Museum Way and J Street in Bentonville AR.

Position Summary

The Early Learning Coordinator is an early childhood education professional who is passionate about providing playful learning experiences for young children ages 06 and their caregivers that inspire curiosity creativity and community. Reporting to the Early Learning Initiatives Manager the Early Learning Coordinator will help lead the efforts to deliver inclusive developmentally appropriate learning experiences for Amazeums early learners in support of the mission.

Essential Functions

  • Develop new and improve existing early learning experiences and programming including instructional and operational design written descriptions and evaluation
  • Support Early Learning Initiatives Manager with providing visionary leadership in the development of early learning spaces and programming as well as nurture positive relationships with community partners.
  • Provides support and collaborates crossdepartmentally to enrich early learning experiences related but not limited to; school visits member offerings community engagement and professional learning.
  • Serves as lead educator and implementer of authentic and engaging learning experiences that embody creativity and curiosity for early learners and align with the Amazeum mission core values and educational approach to create a sense of belonging.
  • Maintains and organizes inventory of supplies equipment and tools required for implementing early learner programs.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current certification (ex: CDA) OR an Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education Play Therapy Family and Child Studies or related field
  • 3 years Experience working with young children ages 06 in a learning environment (ex: PreK childcare church group)
  • Ability to maintain a professional and approachable demeanor with all audiences (internal & external)
  • Proficient in the use of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications

All applicants must be able to:

  • Provide the necessary documentation to prove that you are a U.S. citizen permanent resident or a foreign national with authorization to work in the United States
  • Complete and pass a background check

Physical Requirements

  • Mobility and Flexibility: Ability to move freely across a variety of environments (indoor and outdoor) and shift from sitting or standing to kneeling or crouching to interact at childlevel as needed.
  • Extended Physical Activity: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods often up to four hours to facilitate activities monitor the space and engage with young children and families.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Capacity to lift and carry supplies equipment or childrens materials weighing up to 20 lbs overhead regularly and up to 40 lbs occasionally without strain.
  • Endurance for Dynamic Engagement: Ability to energetically engage with children in a highstimulation sensoryrich environment that includes periods of bending stretching and reaching.
  • Sensory Awareness: Good visual and auditory abilities to monitor the safety of children and families in bustling and sometimes noisy settings and to respond promptly to safety needs.

Preferred Skills:

  • Comfortable guiding children and caregivers through interactive handson experiences where learning is shared and discovered together.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail both written and verbal with an emphasis on presenting information to diverse audiences in an engaging and compelling fashion
  • Bilingual skills
  • Ability to balance shifting priorities in a dynamic fast paced and everchanging environment
  • Excellent team player with positive attitude; (energetic dependable and personable)
  • Demonstrate curiosity and passion for learning with an excitement for new challenges
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
