Join our Operations Bureau

Support the Districts Operations Bureau in this challenging and rewarding position. As a Structure Electrician you will utilize your broad understanding of electrical code regulations and a variety of tools and equipment to maintain the operational readiness of the Districts water control structures. The Structure Electrician will inspect repair and maintain generators fixtures machinery and automated equipment on the Districts structure control systems. This position will utilize their highly skilled journeymans electrician certification in conjunction with District structure schematics and procedures for troubleshooting and installations.

Starting Compensation:

Structure Electrician 4: $18.36 $25.57
Future earning potential: $18.36 $28.45
Structure Electrician 5: $20.84 $29.00
Future earning potential: $20.84 $32.27

The starting salary range for the Maintenance and Trades Technician positionreflects the minimum to 71.4 of the compensation. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.

Essential Functions

  • Perform highly technical and skilled work on the lighting power generator and control systems of water control structures.
  • Perform electrical work and inspection on wiring fixtures outlets automated controls cameras pumps generators batteries and other electrical components.
  • Replace and repair electrical equipment and devices as required.
  • Maintains a broad understanding of electrical code regulations as they apply to water control structures to check and ensure compliance.
  • Read interpret and follow specifications blueprints or technical drawings and manuals for installations and/or troubleshooting.
  • Maintain structure electrical power emergency power communication and gate control equipment and functions.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control failures.
  • Operate a heavyduty utility truck and trailer high lift boat string trimmer chain saw sprayer pumps and generators.
  • Respond to emergency management activities or other incidents requiring response in support of District designated events.
  • Additional duties as assigned (e.g. painting sand blasting welding metal work hydraulic repair mechanical repair concrete repair pressure washing preventative maintenance sign installation and routine inspections).

Required Credentials for Structure Electrician

Structure Electrician 5

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Six 6 years related work experience in structure operations or other related maintenance field
  • Valid drivers license
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician certification

Structure Electrician 6

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Seven 7 years related work experience in structure operations or other related maintenance field
  • Valid drivers license
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician certification

    Application Process

    The District will determine eligibility for employment solely from the information provided on a District employment application. All applicants are required to complete in full the District employment application. Incomplete applications will not be considered. A resume will not be considered as a substitute for the required District application for the purpose of qualification. Applicants who are within 30 days of graduation if selected are not allowed to start until all minimum qualifications are met.

    Additional Details

    This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week Monday to Thursday out of the Brooksville FL office. This position is eligible for overtime time for hours worked over 40 hours in a week.

    Travel Required

    Yes.Extensive travel using District vehicle within Districts coverage area.
