Lifeguard FTE May - August

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Monitor and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all people in and around the facilitys swimming pool.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors in and around the pool.
• Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
• Administer first aid and CPR including using an AED and if trained administer emergency oxygen when needed.
• Rescue distressed swimmers when necessary.
• Enforce the pool rules in an appropriate fair and equitable manner and explain the rationale for the rule(s) when needed.
• Assist people as needed but without compromising the safety of others using the facility.
• May perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe pool.
• Demonstrate a positive empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One or more years previous lifeguard experience required.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Must have Lifeguard Certification from an accredited organization.
• CPR and deescalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.
