CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Media Production Specialist II

TEMPORARY END DATE: This position is temporary and ends on or before December 31 2025. Any continuation beyond December 31 2025 is contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding.

FT/PT: Fulltime

PAY PLAN: 12month

WORKPLACE TYPE: Onsite (work inperson at business location)

ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $4146 $5000

POSITION PURPOSE

The mission of the Office of Marketing and Communications is to elevate and protect the California State University Bakersfield brand and inform and inspire the community through storytelling. The department which is under the Office of the President works to drive engagement between the university and key target audiences in this region and beyond.

Under general supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications the Videographer/Photographer performs a full range of assignments related to production projects in photography video or other multimedia. The incumbent is responsible for improving visual storytelling at the university and capturing creative highquality photos and video for a variety of platforms including web email social media television events and other venues. This position is responsible for all stages of production including planning storyboarding scheduling writing directing shooting staging and editing productions. The incumbent coordinates production activities with support staff and students as needed as well as serving as a lead to multimedia student assistants.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in a related field and two 2 years of experience in still and motion picture photography including a thorough knowledge of video production techniques.

LICENSES Possession of a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

SCREENING: Only those applicants possessing experience most directly related to the immediate needs of the office will be invited to appear before a Qualifications Appraisal Board for the purpose of appraising training experience and interest in the position.

BACKGROUND CHECK: Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: MEDIUM WORK up to 40 of the activities involve sitting standing squatting kneeling or walking; lifting heavy weight objects limited to 50 pounds; may involve pushing and pulling objects within the weight limits.

SENSITIVE POSITION: Sensitive positions are designated by the CSU as requiring heightened scrutiny of individuals holding the position based on potential for harm to children concerns for the safety and security of the people animals or property or heightened risk of financial loss to the CSU or individuals in the university community.

MANDATED REPORTER: Limited: The person holding this position is considered a limited mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 revised July 21 2017.
