REPORTS TO: School Leader
SUPERVISES: Maycoordinateand direct the activities ofCoTeachers.
PURPOSE: Toprovide quality instruction to studentsin accordance withtheMontessoriphilosophy andthe North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Effective planning and assessment of the schools current curriculum.
Guiding students to a level ofunderstanding of the curriculum effectively anddifferentiatinginstruction materials or assessments whenappropriate.
Effective management of the classroom environment.
Quality instruction which includes making learning goals clear to the students usingappropriateinstructionalstrategies.
Using innovative approaches and instructional strategies including the effective use oftechnology to increase student learning and confidence to learn.
Promotinghigh standards and expectations for student achievement.
Promotingequity and appreciation of diversity toensureequitableopportunities for student learning including implementing specific strategies forstudents served by the Special Populations department.
Maintaining data and documentation asappropriate.
Participating in schoolwide professional development and seek continual feedback and coaching to develop as a teacher.
Performance of other jobrelated duties as assigned.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
A valid NC Professional Educatorslicensefrom the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in theappropriatecontent area/grade level
(Elementary K6 and/or Middle Grades Science Social Studies Math or ELA).
Experience working withchildren ages 812.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE
AMS/AMI Montessori Certification
Experience working in a Montessori setting (preferred)
