Investigator Research & Analytics Part Time (Edmonton Alberta Canada)
Reporting to the Investigations Manager the Investigator Research & Analytics will conduct a wide variety of detailed quality and timely research and investigative assignments. This position will work within the OpenSource Intelligence team and collaborate with team members daily. Along with possessing an investigative mindset advanced report writing and research skills a strong command of grammar and the English language are essential to success in this role time this role may be available for remote work!
The ideal candidate has a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks within a fastpaced environment under the pressure of tight deadlines. Strong organizational analytical and decisionmaking skills are required. Must conduct all investigations in a professional manner and always maintain strict confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed indepth background and asset investigations on individuals and corporate entities in response to client requests using Internet research and databases
- Conduct intellectual property investigations via online research and site attendances
- Locate individuals throughout Canada using database and Internet searches as well as inquiries
- Assist with confirming focal points and identifiers to maximize surveillance resources
- Comfortably navigate through popular social networking sites locating analyzing and documenting relevant material found
- Document files accurately with file activity and all information gathered
- Ensure all client protocols and guidelines are followed
- Report your findings to our clients in accordance with Xpera standards and practices
- Abide by relevant privacy legislation and adhere to internal policies guidelines and best practices that apply to opensource intelligence
- Provide support to the Surveillance and Risk Management Divisions with opensource research as needed
- Remain current on industry standards new and emergent sites and participate in staff meetings and trainings for information sharing purposes
- Attend court or legal proceedings as required
- Other related duties as required
Education:
- Postsecondary degree preferably in a related social science field such as criminology forensic crime and intelligence analysis journalism sociology psychology etc. or equivalent combination of postsecondary diploma and relevant experience. Considered an asset but not required.
- Completion of Using the Internet as an Investigative Research Tool training through Toddington International or willingness to complete within two months
- A strong command of the English language (written and oral) is essential to success in this role
Professional/Technical Certification or Licenses:
- Holds a valid Private Investigator License within the Province of Alberta
- Reliable vehicle currently licensed for business/commercial purposes
Job Knowledge or Work Experience:
- Minimum 2 years research and/or investigative working experience
- Ability to work autonomously
- Prior experience working in a client focused environment
- Understanding of threat risk assessments and analytics
- Knowledge of all levels of the Canadian court system insurance law and privacy legislation an asset
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Word Excel Outlook
- Advanced report writing and research abilities
